Viel Körper, Viel Sex, viel Liebe – R&B Sängerin Beyoncé kam mit Jay-Z ins Olympiastadion.
Nachdem ich vor einer Woche dem Konzert der ROLLING STONES beiwohnen durfte, den Musik-Ikonen der 60er und 70er Jahre, waren gestern Abend Beyoncè unf Zay-Z im Olympiastadion von Berlin, die Superstars des 21. Jahrhunderts.
Es ging schon früh los. Bereits kurz nach 20.00 Uhr betraten beide die Bühne und zeigten gleich: Wir sind die Stars von heute!
Anders als bei den Stones, wo vier vertikale Leinwände aufgebaut waren, die ständig die vier Musiker Jagger, Richards, Wood und Watts zeigten, ist bei Beyoncé und Jay-Z eine durchgezogene, ca. 20 Meter hohe und 60 Meter breite Leinwand gespannt.
Das Besondere: die Leinwand ist halb durchlässig, sie kann sowohl das Geschehen hinter der Leinwand, wie auch Videos auf ihr selbst zeigen. Denn hinter der Leinwand stehen in erster Linie die Musiker, die die beiden Sänger auf der Bühne begleiten, wie auch ein fünfstöckiges Gerüst, auf welchem die mitgereiste Tanzkompanie von Beyoncé immer passend zum Song eine eigene Performance zeigt.

Im nicht ganz ausverkauften Olympiastadion zeigten sich die beiden US-amerikanischen Showstars in bester Laune. Auch Jay-Z schien es regelrecht genoßen zu haben, dass er zusammen mit seiner Ehefrau auf der Bühne stehen darf. Denn dadurch gibt es nun auch für ihn, der in letzter Zeit mehr als Komponist und Produzent tätig ist und dadurch mehr im Hintergrund steht, große Aufmerksamkeit.
Es kommt selten vor, dass ein Gesangspaar, welches auch im wahren Leben verheiratet ist, zusammen auf Tournee geht. In der Regel bleibt immer ein Partner zu Hause, was dann häufig zu Spannungen führt. Beyoncé hat darüber sogar einen Song geschrieben. Auch heute Abend werden die Probleme zwischen den beiden thematisiert, ein Video zeigt Szenen häuslicher Auseinandersetzungen. Doch gerade das macht beide so sympathisch, so menschlich, so nahe. Und genau das lieben die Fans. Viel Beifall auch, als immer wieder kleine Filme mit Beyoncé, Jay-Z und ihren gemeinsamen Kindern gezeigt werden. Mummy, Daddy and the Kids. Ganz anders also als die Rockstars einer früheren Generation, die immer alleine unterwegs waren und in jeder Stadt Dutzende von Groupies hatten – egal, ob zu Hause eine Ehefrau wartete oder nicht.
Typisch für amerikanische Showstars: Nach jedem Song wird sich ungezogen, nach jedem Song das Dekor gewechselt (so weit das in einem Sportstadion überhaupt möglich ist) und zu jedem Song gibt es eine eigene Performance, teils mit der begleitenden Tanzkompanie, teils ohne. Ich fühlte mich sehr an eine Broadway-Show erinnert, welche auch für heutige Sängerinnen und Sänger wohl immer noch das Maß aller Dinge im Showbusiness darstellt. Und damit könnte man eine Linie von Fred Astair bis heute ziehen – nur die Bühnentechnik und die Musik hat sich geändert.

Apropos Musik:
Beyoncé und Jay-Z performten gestern Abend ihre beliebtesten und bekanntesten Songs (wie z.B. „Déjà-Vu“), wobei sie sich auf der Bühne abwechselten. Mal war er alleine auf der Bühne, mal sie, mal beide zusammen. Showmäßig geben sich beide nichts. Denn bevor sie 2008 heirateten, hatten Beyoncé und Jay-Z bereits erfolgreiche Solokarrieren hinter sich.
Der aus Brooklyn stammende Jay-Z (eigentlich Shawn Corey Carter, *1969) hatte 1996 sein erstes Album veröffentlicht, „The Reasonable Doubt“. Sein bisher erfolgreichstes war 1998 „Hard Knock Life“, welches sich 69 Wochen auf Platz 1 der Charts hielt und über 10 Millionen Mal verkauft wurde. Seine bis heute musikalisch beste sind die beiden „The Blueprint“ Alben von 2001 und 2002. Jay-Z’s Stil schwankt zwischen Rap, Hip-Hop und Pop, was wohl auch seinen großen Erfolg ausmacht. 18 Grammys konnte er bisher gewinnen.
Beyoncé erblickte 1981 in Houston das Licht der Welt. Nach verschiedenen Auftritten in Schulchors und Talentwettbewerben gründete sie mit drei anderen Musikerinnen die R&B Girlsgroup „Destiny’s Child“. Gleich ihre erste Single, „No No No“ kam 1997 auf Platz 1 der Charts. Das Album „Survivor“ von 2001 wurde mit 6 Millionen Verkäufen ihr erfolgreichstes. Doch bereits 2002 ging Beyoncé eigene Wege und veröffentlichte ihre erste Solo Single „Work Out“. Kurz darauf lernte sie Jay-Z kennen. Beide wurden ein Paar und produzierten die Single „Bonnie & Clyde“. 2003 kam Beyoncés erstes Solo Album auf den Markt, „Dangerously in Love“. Es landete sofort auf Platz 1 der Billboard Charts. Die Singleauskopplung „Crazy in Love“ erreichte ebenfalls Platz 1.
Das Lied „Crazy in Love“ war dann auch eines der Höhepunkte am gestrigen Abend im Olympiastadion. In heißen Hotpants fegte Beyoncé zu dem Song über die Bühne und die Fans kreischten. Nach 2 Stunden und 40 Tracks kam dann als letztes Lied eine Coverversionen von „Forever Young“ der deutschen Band Alphaville aus dem Jahre 1984, gemeinsam gesungen von Beyoncé und Jay-Z. Der Schmusesong ließ Tausende Feuerzeuge oder Handy-Lichter aufleuchten (wie in unserer Bilderserie zu sehen) und das Liebespaar ging eng umschlungen von der Bühne.
Fazit: Eine tolle Show, tolle Kostüme, aber leider eine furchtbar schlechte Soundanlage. Bei mir (Ostkurve, direkt gegenüber der Bühne) kam nur Gedröhne an. Das war bei den Stones besser. Trotzdem, der Abend hat sich gelohnt!

Huge show, lots of body, lots of sex, lots of love – Beyoncé came with Jay-Z in the Olympic Stadium.
After watching the ROLLING STONES concert a week ago, the music icons of the 60s and 70s, Beyoncè and Zay-Z were in the Olympiastadion of Berlin last night, the superstars of the 21st century.
It starts early. Shortly after 8 pm, both enter the stage and immediately show: We are the stars of today!
Unlike the Stones, where four vertical canvases were set up, constantly showing the four musicians Jagger, Richards, Wood and Watts, Beyoncé and Jay-Z have a solid, 20-meter-high, 60-meter wide canvas. The special feature: the screen is semi-permeable, it can show both the events behind the screen and videos on it. Behind the screen are primarily the musicians who accompany the two singers on stage, as well as a five-storey scaffolding, on which the Beyoncé dance company, always accompanied by the song, shows its own performance.
In the sold-out Olympic Stadium, the two US show stars were in great spirits. Jay-Z also seems to really enjoy being allowed to perform on stage with his wife. Because he is now rather a composer and producer and thus more in the background. It rarely happens that a singing couple, who is also married in real life, go on tour together. As a rule, one partner always stays at home, which often leads to tensions. Beyoncé even wrote a song about it. This evening, the problems between the two will be discussed, a video shows scenes of domestic arguments. But that’s what makes them both so nice, so human, so close. And that’s exactly what the fans love. There is also a lot of applause when small films with Beyoncé, Jay-Z and their children are shown again and again. Mummy, Daddy and the Kids. So unlike the rock stars of an earlier era, who were always on their own and had dozens of groupies in every city, whether a wife was waiting at home.
Typical of American showstars:
After each song, they change the outfit, change the decor (as far as possible in a sports stadium), and each song has its own performance, sometimes with the accompanying dance company, sometimes without. I was very much reminded of a Broadway show, which is still the measure of all things in show business for today’s singers in the USA. And with that you could draw a clear line from Fred Astair until today – only the stage technology and the music has changed.
Speaking of music:
Beyoncé and Jay-Z performed their most popular and well-known songs last night (for example „Deja-Vu“), alternating on stage. Sometimes he was alone on the stage, sometimes she, sometimes both together. Before they got married in 2008, Beyoncé and Jay-Z already had successful solo careers behind them. After 2 hours and 40 tracks came as the last song the cover version of „Forever Young“ by the German band Alphaville from the year 1984, sung together by Beyoncé and Jay-Z that night. The cuddly song lit up thousands of lighters or cell phone lights, and the two lovers on stage walked away.
Conclusion: Great show, great costumes but unfortunately terrible sound system, with me (east curve, directly opposite the stage) I heard more a rumple then music. The Stones at the same place had a much better sound. Nevertheless, the evening was worth it!
