Der deutsche Film „Aus dem Nichts“ gewinnt einen Golden Globe Award für den besten nicht-englischsprachigen Film.
Die Award-Saison hat begonnen und rund um den Globus fiebern die Filmfans mit ihren Stars um die begehrten Medaillen, die bei den Golden Globes im Januar über die Internationalen Filmfestspiele in Berlin im Februar bis zur Oscar Verleihung am 4. März 2018 in Los Angeles zu vergeben sind.
Und gleich beginnt der Preisregen mit einem großen Erfolg für den Deutschen Film: Das NSU-Drama „Aus dem Nichts“ von dem Hamburger Regisseur Fatih Akin mit Diane Kruger, die für diese Rolle bereits in Cannes 2017 mit der Goldenen Palme ausgezeichnet wurde, erhält einen Golden Globe für „Best Motion Picture in a Foreign Language“. Ein toller Erfolg! Beide strahlten um die Wette, wobei Diane Kruger dennoch sehr cool wirkt und Fatih Akin aber sein Glück mit der ganzen Welt teilen möchte. Zwei sehr unterschiedliche Charaktere, die sich für diesen Film zu einem sensationellen Team zusammengefunden haben. Bravo!

Das andere, und für die US-Amerikaner viel wichtigere Thema, war die Aufarbeitung der Sex-Skandale in Hollywood. Seit der bekannteste und mächtigste Hollywood Produzent Harvey Weinstein im Sommer letzten Jahres von mehreren Dutzend Frauen der sexuellen Belästigung bezichtigt wurde, ist eine Lawine losgetreten worden, die bis heute nicht zum Stillstand gekommen ist. Im Gegenteil: jüngster Fall ist der deutsche Regisseur Dieter Wedel, der sich plötzlich drei Anklagen wegen derselben Vergehen wie bei Harvey Weinstein stellen muss. Die Kampagnen der #MeToo Bewegung, angestoßen von der Schauspielerin Alyssa Milano, hat Millionen Klicks auf Twitter bekommen und die nächste Kampagne, #TimesUp, bei der über 300 Schauspielerinnen (u.a. Meryl Streep) eine Deklaration für mehr Frauenrechte unterschrieben haben, ist ebenfalls großes Thema in allen Medien.
Denn die Debatte hat sich längst über den sexuellen Missbrauch hinausbewegt. Jetzt geht es um mehr: Frauen wollen nicht nur respektvoll behandelt werden, sondern kämpfen in den USA auch ganz allgemein für mehr Rechte und gleiche Bezahlung bei gleicher Arbeit.
Deshalb gebührte der Auftritt der US-Talkmasterin Oprah Winfrey die größte Aufmerksamkeit. Eigentlich sollte sie nur für ihr Lebenswerk ausgezeichnet werden. Doch noch während ihrer flammenden Rede für mehr Frauenrechte („kein Mädchen darf sich ab heute mehr Sorgen machen müssen…“), standen die Zuschauer auf und klatschen Beifall. Standing Ovation noch während sie sprach. Der Saal tobte. Die 63-jährige ist auf dem Höhepunkt ihrer Beliebtheit angekommen. Und hinter den Kulissen wird bereits gemunkelt, dass sie bei der nächsten US-Präsidentenwahl gegen Donald Trump antreten könnte. Ein Erdrutschsieg wird ihr vorausgesagt…
Und noch etwas darf nicht unerwähnt bleiben: Alle Stars kamen an diesem Abend in schwarz gekleidet, Männlein wie Weiblein, um an die vielen Frauen zu erinnern, die in Hollywood Opfer sexuellen Missbrauchs wurden. Ein starkes Zeichen und ein aufregender Abend. In jeder Hinsicht.
Ob das die Oscar Verleihung noch toppen kann?

The Golden Globes 2018

The German film „In the Fade“ wins a Golden Globe Award for the best non-English-language film.
The award season has begun, and movie fans around the globe are eagerly awaiting the coveted medals with their stars, beginning from the Golden Globes in January to the Berlin International Film Festival in February to the Academy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles on March 4, 2018.
And immediately begin the Awards with a great success for the German film: The NSU drama „In the Fade“ by the Hamburg director Fatih Akin with in the leading role Diane Kruger, who was awarded for this role in Cannes 2017 with the Golden Palm, receives one Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture in a Foreign Language. A great success! They both beamed, but Diane Kruger is still very cool and Fatih Akin wants to share his luck with the whole world. Two very different characters, who have formed together a sensational team. Bravo!
The other, and much more important topic for the Americans, was the sex scandals in Hollywood. Since the most famous and powerful Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein was accused by several dozen women of sexual harassment in the summer of last year, an avalanche has been started that has not stopped until today. On the contrary, the latest case is the German director Dieter Wedel, who suddenly has to face three charges for the same offenses as Harvey Weinstein. The #MeToo campaign, initiated by actress Alyssa Milano, have received millions of Twitter clicks and the next campaign, #TimesUp, which features more than 300 actresses (including Meryl Streep) signing up for more women’s rights, is also a big topic in all media.
Because the debate moved beyond sexual abuse. Now it’s about more: women not only want to be treated respectfully, they also fight for more rights and equal pay for the same job in the US.
Therefore, the appearance of US talk show host Oprah Winfrey deserved the most attention. Actually, at that evening she should only be honored for her life’s work. But even during her flaming speech for more women’s rights („no girl must worry any more from today …“), the audience stood up and clap applause. Standing ovation while she spoke. The hall was raging. The 63-year-old has reached the height of her popularity. And behind the scenes is already rumored that they could compete in the next US presidential election against Donald Trump. A landslide victory is predicted …
And one more thing must not go unmentioned: All the stars came dressed in black that night, men and women, to remember the many women who were victims of sexual abuse in Hollywood. A strong sign and an exciting evening. In every sense.
