„SICARIO 2“ – Action/ Thriller – USA – 2018
Regie: Stefano Sollima
Cast: Benicio Del Toro, Josh Brolin, Isabela Moner, Jeffrey Donovan, Catherine Keener, Matthew Modine
Filmverleih: StudioCanal

„MAMMA MIA 2“ – Musical – USA – 2018
Regie: Ol Parker
Cast: Amanda Seyfried, Lily James, Meryl Streep, Cher, Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth, Stellan Skarsgard und Julie Walters
Filmverleih: Universal Pictures

The new films in the cinema 19.07.2018

After the four-week World Cup in Russia, the world of cinema is slowly getting back on track. Here are two recommendations for this week:
„SICARIO 2“ – Action / Thriller – USA – 2018Road: Stefano SollimaCast: Benicio Del Toro, Josh Brolin, Isabela Moner, Jeffrey Donovan, Catherine Keener, Matthew Modine Film Distribution: StudioCanal
When the first part of „SICARIO“ was shot two years ago, you already had the sequels „2“ and „3“ in view. The great success of the first part also justified this idea. But when the filming of the second part started, director Denis Villeneuve was missing, working on „Blade Runner 2049“ and „Arrival“. So they took Stefano Sollima, who had made a name for himself with the „Gomorrah“ television series. Certainly not a bad choice, only Stefano Sollima has not the the level of Denis Villeneuve. A very important element of the first part, namely the FBI agent Kate, wonderfully played by Emily Blunt, who tries to maintain a sense of decency and dignity in all this violence, is missing here. Therefore, this second part does not reach the quality of the first part, but is still a well-made action movie.
It’s about the American-Mexican border, which has recently become popular with Trump’s desire for a solid 6 to 9 meter high wall. In this film, not only drugs and immigrants are smuggled into the US, but also terrorists who commit suicide attacks in supermarkets. It will be time for the agents Matt (Josh Broln) and Alejandro (Benicio Del Toro) to let their muscles and their weapons speak again. For this mission, the daughter (Isabela Moner) of a drug lord must be abducted.
For fans of brutal action films, not for kids.

„MAMMY MIA 2“ – Musical – USA – 2018Region: Ol ParkerCast: Amanda Seyfried, Lily James, Meryl Streep, Cher, Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth, Stellan Skarsgard and Julie Walters Film Distribution: Universal Pictures
The music of ABBA is not dead. The four Swedish musicians, Agneta, Björn, Benny and Anni-Frid, had won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1974 with the title „Waterloo“ and were for more than a decade the most successful pop band in Europe. Besides „Waterloo“ the songs „Dancing Queen“ and „The Winner Takes it All“ are still very well known. In 1982, the group split up. In the 90s, the quartet experienced a revival, which ended in a musical production: „Mamma Mia!“. World premiere was 1999 in London at the Prince Edward Theater. Book and staging: Catherine Johnson. The musical was so successful (it is still played, from autumn 2018 in Frankfurt and Cologne), that in 2008 a film was made.
The story: The brave single mother Donna (Meryl Streep) lives with her daughter Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) on a Greek island and operates a small tavern. When Sophie wants to marry, her father should lead her to the altar. But Donna is not sure who the father of her daughter is, as she had a parallel affair with Sam (Pierce Brosnan), Bill (Stellan Skarsgard) and Harry (Colin Firth). So all three come to the wedding and a turbulent time begins.
In the second part of the „Mamma Mia“ movie Donna died. But this time, the main character is the young Donna, who is played here brilliantly by the British actress Lily James („Baby Driver“).
The story:
Sophie realized the dream of her mother Donna and built a small hotel. At the opening her three fathers should come back. But they have supposedly no time. In flashbacks, the youth of Donna (now actress Lily James) is told when she met her three men Sam (in young: Jeremy Irvine), Bill (in young: Josh Dylan) and Harry (in young: Hugh Skinner). In the end, of course, there’s a glittering opening ceremony with everyone involved, including Sophie’s grandmother Ruby, interpreted and sung by none other than the glamorous singer Cher.
A movie for the whole family.
