„VORHANG AUF FÜR CYRANO“ („Edmond“) – Komödie -FR, BE – 2018
Regie: Alexis Michalik
Cast: Thomas Solivérès, Oliver Gourmet, Tom Leeb, Lucie Boujenah, Mathilde Seigner
Filmverleih: ProKino

„CURTAIN ON FOR CYRANO“ („Edmond“) – Comedy -FR, BE – 2018Region: Alexis MichalikCast: Thomas Solivérès, Oliver Gourmet, Tom Leeb, Lucie Boujenah, Mathilde Seigner Film rental: ProKino
If you love both the theater and the French way of life, you can not miss this film by the young Alexis Michalik (b. 1982). Alexis Michalik grew up in a multicultural family of artists in the district of Montmatre in the French capital of Paris. He trained as an actor and since 2001 has been working both as an actor and as an author and director of his own plays. He has a special love for the classics of English and French literature.
In 2016, Alexis Michalik created for the Theatre du Palais-Royal in Paris a play about the famous French dramatist Edmond Rostand and the difficult realization of Rostands play „Cyrano de Bergerac“, premiered in 1897, which is still the most played theater comedy in France.
And with many film adaptations of this piece. The most famous may be is this one from 1990 with Gérard Depardieu (* 1948), which was be seen by millions of spectators around the world.
In 2018, Alexis Michalik realized from own successful play about Edmund Rostand this movie, called in french „Edmond“.
Story: At the end of the 19th century, the famous French playwright Edmond Rostand was praised by the critics at the beginning of his career, but rejected by the public. Only when he brought „Cyrano de Bergerc“ on stage, the breakthrough was made. The piece tells the story of an ugly but highly talented lyricist who helps his friend Christian, somewhat mentally limited, but handsome looking, in courting the beautiful Roxanne by writing verses that Christian then recites to his beloved one. But at some point, the dizziness flies up and Roxanne falls in love with the lyric poet – well, if that would be the case in real life …
Conclusion: well-made film about life in the theater and about the best-known love story in France.
Other movie starting this week:
