Die neuen Filme im Kino 9.11.17

Dieses Wochenende kommen unzählige Filme ins Kino, gleich zwei mit Superstars wie Johnny Depp und George Clooney, aber auch viele kleine, interessante. Ich habe Euch drei herausgesucht:
„MORD IM ORIENT-EXPRESS“ – Krimi – USA – 2017
Regie: Kenneth Branagh
Cast: Kenneth Branagh, Johnny Depp, Michelle Pfeiffer, Penelope Cruz, William Dafoe, Judi Dench, Daisy Ridley

Es gibt wohl kaum eine berühmtere Krimi Autorin wie Agatha Christie und kaum eine Detektiv-Figur, die so berühmt ist wie Hercule Poirot (außer natürlich Sherlock Holmes). Und auch das Buch „Murder on the Orient Express“ zählt zu den meistgelesenen von ihr. Kein Wunder, dass immer wieder versucht wird es zu verfilmen. Den größten Erfolg hatte dabei Regisseur Sidney Lumet 1974 mit seiner Version; Albert Finney spielte damals den Meisterdetektiv. Dafür gab es sechs Oscar Nominierungen und einen Oscar für Ingrid Bergmann. Neben ihr spielten noch Lauren Bacall, Vanessa Redgrave und Jacqueline Bisset, sowie Richard Widmark, Michael York und sogar Jean Connery.
Auch Kenneth Branagh, ein ausgewiesener Shakespeare Darsteller, aber auch Regisseur von Filmen wie „Heinrich V.“, „Viel Lärm um nichts“ und „Hamlet“ und zuletzt „Thor“, „Jack Ryan“ und „Cinderella“, nahm sich 40 Jahre später der Geschichte noch einmal an.
Und auch Kenneth Branagh hat sich mit großen Stars umgeben wie oben unter „Cast“ schon beschrieben. Und er selbst, wie so häufig in seinen Filmen, spielt die Hauptrolle. Dabei muss jeder, der die Figur des Hercule Poirot spielt, sich der Interpretation von Peter Ustinov stellen, der den Meisterdetektiv allein sechs Mal darstellte. Darunter natürlich in dem bekanntesten Film, „Tod auf dem Nil“,von 1978. Aber Kenneth Branagh macht das recht gut. Während Ustinovs Stärke die Verschmitztheit gemischt mit französischer Nonchalance war (ich traf einmal Peter Ustinov selbst zum Interview in Paris), ist es bei Branagh, wie sollte es anders sein, die englische Arroganz und Überheblichkeit: „Ich bin der beste Detektiv der Welt!“
Und die Charaktere sind nach wie vor fantastisch, jeder fasziniert auf seine Weise. Dank Agatha Christies meisterhafter Feder. Die Schauspieler, wie Michelle Pfeiffer, Johnny Depp und Judi Dench, wissen es brilliant umzusetzen.
Deshalb lohnt sich die Verfilmung auf jeden Fall anzusehen, auch Dank der wunderbaren Bilder in den verschneiten Bergen.
Ein Film für die ganze Familie.

„SIMPEL“ – Drama, Komödie – 2017

Die Brüder Ben (Frederick Lau) und Barnabas (David Kross) sind engste Freunde seit Kindheitstagen. Vielleicht auch, weil Barnabas geistig zurückgeblieben ist und Ben immer für ihn da ist. Doch eines Tages stirbt die Mutter und Barnabas soll in ein Heim eingeliefert werden. Das kann nur der Vater verhindern, der aber seit 15 Jahren schon von der Familie getrennt lebt. Auf dem Weg zu ihm treffen sie auf Aria (Emilia Schüle) und Kumpel Enzo (Axel Stein), die sich den beiden anschließen. Ein Abenteuer beginnt.

Filme mit geistig Behinderten gibt es sehr viele und schnell werden Erinnerungen wach an Dustin Hoffman in „Rainman“ oder Leonardo Di Caprio in „Gilbert Grape“. Auch in diesem Film kann der Darsteller, der diesen Charakter spielt, glänzen, David Kross. Ganz besonders freue ich mich über diese Chance für ihn, weil viele ihn noch als den schüchternen Jungen aus „Der Vorleser“ kennen und ihm hier eine Möglichkeit geboten wird, seine Schauspielkunst neu unter Beweis zu stellen. Mit Erfolg. Ich lernte David Kross 2012 kennen, als ich ihn für meine Serie „words“ portraitierte und er mir einen sehr schönen Text schrieb. Der Film ist auf jeden Fall eine Empfehlung.

„SUBURBICON“ – Drama, schwarze Komödie – USA – 2017
Regie: George Clooney
Cast: Matt Damon, Julianne Moore und Oscar Isaac.
Filmverleih: Concorde
Es handelt sich um die Verfilmung eines 30 Jahre alten Drehbuchs, welches die Coen Brüder geschrieben aber selbst nie realisiert haben. Vielleicht ganz bewusst, denn die Geschichte will nicht so recht zünden. In einem spießigen amerikanischen Vorort in den 50er Jahren, der ausschließlich von Weißen, scheinbar ordentlichen Bürgern, bewohnt wird, kommt es durch einen Einbruch mit einer Toten zu einem Durcheinander, welches das eigentlich Böse und Bigotte der Einwohner zum Vorschein bringt. Als dann noch das erste afro-amerikanische Pärchen in die Nachbarschaft zieht bricht echter Hass aus. Das Ambiente im 50er Jahre Look ist aber klasse und die Schauspieler, allen voran Matt Damon, Oscar Isaac und Julianne Moore, wie immer sehenswert. Deshalb eine halbe Empfehlung von mir.

Countless films are coming to the cinema this weekend, like two with superstars like Johnny Depp and George Clooney, but also many interesting little ones. I picked out three of you:
„MURDER IN ORIENT-EXPRESS“ – Crime – USA – 2017

There is hardly a more famous crime novelist like Agatha Christie and hardly a detective character as famous as Hercule Poirot (except, of course, Sherlock Holmes). And also the book „Murder on the Orient Express“ is one of the most read by her. No wonder there are already 4 films with this story. The greatest success had director Sidney Lumet in 1974 with his version; Albert Finney then played the master detective. The movie got six Oscar nominations and an Oscar for Ingrid Bergmann. Next to her were Lauren Bacall, Vanessa Redgrave and Jacqueline Bisset, as well as Richard Widmark, Michael York and even Jean Connery.
And now, Kenneth Branagh, a distinguished Shakespeare actor, but also director of films such as „Henry V.“, „Much ado about nothing“ and „Hamlet“ and most recently „Thor“, „Jack Ryan“ and „Cinderella“, takes 40 years later the story again.
And Kenneth Branagh has also surrounded himself with big stars as described above under „Cast“. And he himself, as so often in his movies, plays the lead role. Anyone who plays the character of the Hercule Poirot must surrender to the interpretation of Peter Ustinov, who portrayed the master detective him alone for six times. Among them, of course, in the most famous movie, „Death on the Nile“, from 1978. But Kenneth Branagh is doing quite well. While Ustinov’s strength was irony mixed with French nonchalance (I once met Peter Ustinov himself for an interview in Paris), Branagh, how could it be otherwise, is English arrogance and too much self-esteem: „I am the best detective in the world! “
And the characters are still fantastic, everyone fascinates in his own way. Thanks to Agatha Christie’s masterful pen. The actors like Michelle Pfeiffer, Johnny Depp and Judi Dench know how to do it brilliantly.
Therefore, the filming definitely worth looking at, also thanks to the wonderful pictures in the snowy mountains.
A movie for the whole family.

The brothers Ben (Frederick Lau) and Barnabas (David Kross) are closest friends since childhood. Maybe because Barnabas is mentally retarded and Ben is always there for him. There are a lot of films with mentally handicapped and memories quickly come to mind of Dustin Hoffman in „Rainman“ or Leonardo Di Caprio in „Gilbert Grape“. Also in this movie, the actor who plays this character can shine, David Kross. I am particularly happy about this opportunity for him, because many know him only as the timid boy from „Der Vorleser“ („The Reader“) and he is offered a chance to prove his acting skills. With success. I met David Kross in 2012, when I portrayed him for my series „words“ and he wrote me a very nice text. The film is definitely a recommendation.

It is the filming of a 30 year old script written by the Coen brothers but never realized. Maybe quite consciously, because the story is not really convincing. In a stuffy American suburb in the 50s, which is inhabited exclusively by whites, apparently ordinary citizens, it comes through a burglary with a homecide to a confusion, which brings the actual evil and bigot of the inhabitants to light. When the first African-American couple moves into the neighborhood, real hatred breaks out. The atmosphere in the 50s look is great and the actors, especially Matt Damon, Oscar Isaac and Julianne Moore, as always worth seeing. So half a recommendation from me.
