Die Show

Bass: Juan Alderete, Gitarre: Tyler Bates, Keyboard: Paul Wiley, Schlagzeug: Gil Sharone.

Marilyn Manson live at Velodrome in Berlin
Horror, rock and scary feeling
This name is program, which might be familiar to even less hardrock and metal music fans.
Marilyn Manson (actually Brian Hugh Warner, * 1969) is not only the stage name of the band’s front man, but also the name of the group, and is made up of the first name of Marilyn Monroe and the last name of Charles Manson, who was convicted for a dozen murders, inter alia the massacre of Sharon Tate, the wife of Roman Polanski and her friends. Charles Manson recently died in prison after serving a 40-year prison sentence. According to Marilyn Manson, the singer wants to reflect the whole range of American culture with this name – from absolutely cruel to extraordinarily beautiful.
Always fascinated by the masks of the rock group KISS, Manson has been playing his wild game with grotesque and provocative horror elements since the early 90s, which often refer to religious motives and the antichrist, Satan. Manson’s aversion to any form of religion probably goes back to his experiences in a Christian school.
Incidentally, Marilyn Manson is not only a musician but also a painter (exhibition at the Kunsthalle Wien 2010) and an actor. He worked with u.a. in the movies „Lost Highway“ by David Lynch, „Bowling for Columbine“ or in the TV series „Californication“.

The first fans waited last Saturday from 5pm not miss this show and for good reason: the seats in one of the front rows were in great demand, because Marilyn Manson is one of the few artists who aren’t working with a projection screens beside the stage.
So you had to be right at the front and have very good eyesight, to get this spectacle exactly. And that was very special: a strange, rotating wheelchair construction (see video on kultur24 TV) first seemed disturbing, until a supposed steel prosthetic leg increased this disturbance: Marilyn Manson used his leg fracture during a concert in September to his leg not to burden one and on the other to put on its scary stage show the crown. And so there stood an imposing, gloomy and black-clad man in a leather coat with a metal prosthetic leg and those scary white contact lenses that made him so famous.
Two nurses, who followed Manson at every turn and helped him with his various costume changes, looked rather grotesque.

Despite this supposed physical weakness, Marilyn Manson managed to convince with his voice. Whether „Kill For Me“ from his new album „Heaven Upside Down“ or his famous cover of the „Sweet Dreams“ by the Eurythmics – the vocal power was clear and, together with the guitar and bass power of the band, every conversation were moved to a later date.
There was a brief shock when Marilyn Manson paused after being pelted with a plastic beer mug. „Hey, who was that?“ He shouted angrily, the first fans holding their breaths in anticipation of a thunder storm – until Mr. Manson called „Well targeted, man, respect!“ Exclaimed, grinning and the last minutes to the end of the concert again really accelerated.
That came earlier than expected, after just an hour, the band had already said goodbye. However, for an artist who has done most of the show on one leg, this is a mature feat and is hoping for more future bizarre horror ideas from Marilyn Manson.
Bass: Juan Alderete, Guitar: Tyler Bates, Keyboard: Paul Wiley, Drums: Gil Sharone.
