Berlins bedeutendstes Ereignis für Bildendende Kunst beginnt morgen.
Hier die wichtigsten Ausstellungen:

    28. + 29. jeweils 11-19 Uhr, 30. Sept. 11-18 Uhr.
Ticketpreis: Eröffnung: 36 Euro, sonst 18 Euro, Eingang: Tempelhofer Damm 4

    28. + 29. jeweils 13 – 20 Uhr, 30. Sept. 11-18 Uhr,
Ticketpreis: Eröffnung: 6 Euro, sonst 12 Euro, Eingang: Columbiadamm 10

  3. Die EMOP – European Month of Photography
ME COLLECTORS ROOM „The Moment is Eternity“ mit Portraits aus der Sammlung Thomas Olbricht. „Back to the Future“ in der C/O BERLIN GALERIE.

Berlin’s most significant event for visual arts begins tomorrow.
Here are the most important exhibitions:
1. The art fair ART BERLIN 2018Since the fair was connected to me the Art Cologne it is getting bigger and bigger. The most striking innovation: no longer in the exhibition halls at the Gleisdreieck, but in the former Tempelhof Airport. Since the Volksbühne had to give up their second game cities there (kultur24 reported), there is now room for other uses. With 120 galleries from Germany and abroad, the ART BERLN 2018 (formerly ABC – Art Berlin Contemporary), strengthened this year and wants to play two huge hangars, 4 and 5, with your galleries. I’m curious! Opening hours: Opening on 27.9.18 between 16-20 clock28. + 29. each 11-19 clock, 30 Sept. 11-18 clock. Ticket price: Opening: 36 Euro, otherwise 18 Euro, entrance: Tempelhofer Damm 45
2. The art fair POSITIONSThis smaller fair with even less known artists has increased in quality from year to year. First in the Postbahnhof at the Ostbahnhof, then in the Arena at the Treptower Park and now prominently also in the Tempelhof Airport, next to the ART BERLIN, in Hangar 4. That will delight all art lovers, they no longer need to travel forever long distances to to look at both fairs. Opening hours: Opening on 27.9.18 between 17-21 o’clock28. + 29. each 13-20 o’clock, 30. Sept. 11-18 o’clock, ticket price: Opening: 6 Euro, otherwise 12 Euro, entrance: Columbiadamm 10
3. The EMOP – European Month of Photography In 1980, someone in Paris had the great idea to give their fair value to the fine arts and photography as well. Each gallery, as well as museums and private art institutions were encouraged to show photographic works every two years in the month of November. Whether this contributed to the fact that then in the 90s – until the mid – 2000s, a real boom in the art world broke out for photography, I can not say. Within which yes photography artists such as Andreas Gursky, Candida Höfer or Wolfgang Tillmanns (Turner Prize Winner 2000) experienced their breakthrough.
From the beginning of the 2000s other cities wanted to take over this event as well, so there are photo festivals under this name in cities like Montreal, Los Angeles to Singapore. In the European cities they came together under the common name EMOP – Euopean Month of Photography. From Madrid to Bratislava, this Mois de la Photo takes place every two years – and now in Berlin at the same time as the BERLIN ART WEEK.
My tips for the EMOP: MUSEUM FOR PHOTOGRAPHY: Helmut Newton Foundation „Between Art and Fashion“ and the exhibition „Artist Complex“ with portraits of artists – from Frida Khalo to Georg Baselitz. ME COLLECTORS ROOM „The Moment is Eternity“ with portraits from the collection Thomas Olbricht. GALERIE DESCHLER with portraits designed by photographer Sven Marquardt (also known as the bouncer of Club Berghain). „Back to the Future“ in the C / O BERLIN GALLERY. And the well-known portrait photographer Martin Schöller (his portraits often land on the title of Time Magazine, see above the portrait of Angelina Jolie)) in the CWC GALLERY.

4. The new Palais Populaire
Next to the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, Deutsche Bank has taken over a part of the Kronprinzenpalais and wants to turn it into a cultural center with events, reading rooms, exhibitions and a café. I’m curious. Opening is on Thursday, 27th Sept. 2018. Unter den Linden 5, 10117 Berlin
Opening hours: Every day except Tuesday 10-19, Thursday 10-21 clock

In addition, there is, of course, in almost every gallery in Berlin are specially arranged exhibitions for this event.
My tips at the galleries: The famous Austrian action artist Hermann Nitsch at CIRCLE CULTURE GALLERY, Andreas Golder at MICHAEL FUCHS, group exhibition at Galerie NEU, Gregor Hildebrandt at WENTRUP, „Between Points“ at SUPPORTICO LOPEZ, Vivian Greven at AUREL SCHEIBLER, Evelyn Wang in the KW artworks, the hat maker FIONA BENNETT at Stefanie Hering, the group exhibition of SLEEK ART WEEK (initiative of SLEEK founder Christian Bach and gallery owner Rolf Zscharnack) in the lofts of Schulzendorfer Strasse 23 (see cover picture „Trash Beauty“) and finally the GASAG Art Prize in the BERLIN GALLERY, which was awarded to Julian Charrière.
But of course you can (or should) go on an expedition yourself.
My insider tip (although that has not been a secret for a long time) is still the scene on Potsdamer Strasse between Spreekanal and Pohlstrasse. Here also mixes in a good way unusual design (furniture, fashion, et.c.) and art galleries. And of course many nice little cafes, bars and restaurants. Definitely visit on an evening. And my own home, the Scheunenviertel around Auguststrasse, has become a classic by now. And the Torstrasse is booming just like the Potsdamer Strasse.
One more word about the truly incredible collection of art lover Dr. Ing. Thomas Olbricht. His private museum „me Collectors room“ at Auguststrasse 68 is always worth a visit, this time with a compilation of his photographic and photorealistic portraits. You know, this time the portrait seems like the big motto.
