In der kommenden Saison wird die bekannte Tanzkompagnie aus Berlin zwei Neuproduktionen und drei Stücke aus dem Repertoire zeigen.
Die Volksbühne wird neben der Staatsoper Berlin und dem Radialsystem der dritte wichtige Veranstaltungsort von Sasha Waltz & Guests sein.
Im Radialsystem Berlin:
Die neue Aufgabe von Choreographin Sasha Waltz als Co-Intendantin des Staatsballetts Berlin führt dazu, dass sie in nächster Zeit keine eigenen Choreographien für ihre Kompagnie SASHA WALTZ & GUESTS einstudieren wird.
Deshalb wird erstmals im Frühjahr 2020 der New Yorker Künstler ANDREW SCHNEIDER im Radialsystem ein neues Werk für die Compagnie entwickeln. Er ist Preisträger des renommierten Off-Broadway- Theatre-Awards OBIE und bekannt für seine Arbeiten an der Schnittstelle von Performance und Technologie. Dies ist seine erste Zusammenarbeit mit Sasha Waltz & Guests und seine erste Arbeit in Berlin. Die Uraufführung findet am 12. März 2020 im Radialsystem statt.
Am 29. Februar und 1. März 2020 wird im Radialsystem „LOHENGRIN DREAMS“ von Choreographin CHARLOTTE ENGELKES gezeigt.
Das Stück feiert am 23. November an der Norrlandsoperan im schwedischen Umeå seine Uraufführung und entsteht u.a. in Koproduktion mit Sasha Waltz & Guests, die eine langjährige Zusammenarbeit mit der schwedischen Performerin und Regisseurin verbindet.
In der Volksbühne:
Im Frühjahr 2020 kann sich das Berliner Publikum auf ein Wiedersehen mit „noBODY“(Uraufführung war 2002 an der Schaubühne am Lehniner Platz) freuen.
Erstmals seit 2008 wird Sasha Waltz‘ Abschluss des dreiteiligen choreographischen Zyklus‘ über den Menschen und seine vielschichtigen körperlichen Formen wieder in Berlin aufgeführt. Mit dieser Wiederaufnahme setzt Sasha Waltz & Guests die in der laufenden Spielzeit begonnene Kooperation mit der Volksbühne Berlin fort.
In der Staatsoper Unter den Linden:
Auch Sasha Waltz‘ erste Choreographische Oper „DIDO & AENEAS“von Henry Purcell kehrt nach dreijähriger Pause im Sommer 2019 wieder an die Staatsoper Unter den Linden Berlin zurück.
Dort feiert am 18. August 2019 unter dem Dirigat von Christopher Moulds die neue Solisten-Besetzung ihre Berlin-Premiere: Die Rolle der Dido übernimmt die Mezzo-Sopranistin Marie-Claude Chappuis, der Bariton Nikolay Borchev singt die Partie des Aeneas, daneben sind die Sopranistin Aphrodite Patoulidou, die Mezzo-Sopranistin Luciana Mancini, der Bass-Bariton und Tänzer Yannis François, sowie die Tenöre Ziad Nehme und Michael Smallwood zu erleben.
Vom 7. bis 11. August 2019 steht nach vier Jahren erneut die Produktion „IMPROMPTUS“zu Franz Schuberts gleichnamigem Klavierzyklus im Radialsystem auf dem Programm.
Für beide Produktionen startet der Kartenvorverkauf Anfang Mai 2019.
Workshops im Radialsystem:
Auch in der Spielzeit 2019/20 lädt Sasha Waltz & Guests in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Radialsystem regelmäßig zum »Dabke Community Dancing« ein.
Seit Beginn des Jahres entwickelt die Compagnie zudem das »Tempelhof Community Dancing« in Kooperation mit Berlin Mondiale und Cabuwazi Tempelhof.
Neben einem umfangreichen Profi- Workshop-Programm und dem regelmäßigen Kindertanz-Training im Bereich Education wird die Kindertanzcompany Berlin wieder Einblicke in ihre Arbeit geben.
Im Dezember 2019 ist im Radialsystem zudem die vierte Ausgabe von »Zuhören – Dritter Raum für Kunst und Politik« in Planung.
Gastspiele
Die Produktion „KÖRPER“wird im Oktober 2019 auf dem White Bird Festival in Portland, USA sowie im Dezember im Rahmen des Festival de Danse in Cannes zu sehen sein.
Die Produktion „KREATUR“reist im September 2019 an das Europäische Zentrum der Künste Hellerau.
Die neueste Kreation von Sasha Waltz & Guests „RAUSCHEN“wird, neben weiteren Spielterminen an der Volksbühne vom 24. bis 27. Oktober 2019 und im Mai 2020 in Brüssel gezeigt.
Weitere Gastspiele sind in Planung.

Sasha Waltz & Guets – Program for 2019/2020

In the coming season, the well-known dance company from Berlin will show two new productions and three pieces from the repertoire.
The Volksbühne will be the third important venue of Sasha Waltz & Guests next to the Staatsoper Berlin and Radialsystem.
At Radial System Berlin:
The new task of choreographer Sasha Waltz as co-director of the Staatsballett Berlin means that in the near future she will not be creating her own choreographies for her company SASHA WALTZ & GUESTS. Therefore, for the first time in the spring of 2020, the New York artist ANDREW SCHNEIDER will develop a new work for the company in the Radialsystem. He is a laureate of the renowned Off Broadway Theater Award OBIE and known for his work on the interface of performance and technology. This is his first collaboration with Sasha Waltz & Guests and his first work in Berlin. The world premiere will take place on March 12, 2020 in the Radialsystem.
On February 29th and March 1st, 2020 the choreographer CHARLOTTE ENGELKES will be showing in the radial system „LOHENGRIN DREAMS“. The piece celebrates its premiere on November 23 at Norrlandsoperan in Umeå, Sweden. in co-production with Sasha Waltz & Guests, which combines a long-term collaboration with the Swedish performer and director.
At the Volksbühne:
In the spring of 2020, the Berlin audience can look forward to a reunion with „noBODY“ (world premiere was 2002 at the Schaubühne am Lehniner Platz). For the first time since 2008, Sasha Waltz’s ‚completion of the three-part choreographic cycle‘ about the human being and his multifaceted physical forms will be performed again in Berlin. With this resumption, Sasha Waltz & Guests continues the co-operation with the Volksbühne Berlin, which started in the current season.
At the Staatsoper Unter den Linden:
Also, Sasha Waltz’s first choreographic opera „DIDO & AENEAS“ by Henry Purcell returns to the Staatsoper Unter den Linden Berlin after a three-year break in the summer of 2019. Under the direction of Christopher Molds, the new soloist lineup will celebrate its Berlin premiere on August 18, 2019: the role of Dido will be performed by mezzo-soprano Marie-Claude Chappuis, while baritone Nikolay Borchev will sing the role of Aeneas Soprano Aphrodite Patoulidou, the mezzo-soprano Luciana Mancini, the bass-baritone and dancer Yannis François, as well as the tenors Ziad Nehme and Michael Smallwood. From August 7 to 11, 2019, after four years, the program „IMPROMPTUS“ on Franz Schubert’s eponymous piano cycle in the Radial System will once again be on the program. For both productions, ticket sales will start in early May 2019.
Workshops in the Radial System:
Also in the 2019/20 season, Sasha Waltz & Guests regularly invites to „Dabke Community Dancing“ in cooperation with the Radialsystem. Since the beginning of the year, the company has also developed the »Tempelhof Community Dancing« in cooperation with Berlin Mondiale and Cabuwazi Tempelhof. In addition to an extensive professional workshop program and regular education in children’s dance education, the Kindertanzcompany Berlin will provide insights into their work. In December 2019, the fourth edition of »Listening – Third Room for Art and Politics« is also planned in the Radialsystem.
Tour plan:
The production „KÖRPER“ will be shown in October 2019 at the White Bird Festival in Portland, USA and in December as part of the Festival de Danse in Cannes. The production „KREATUR“ travels to the European Center of the Arts Hellerau in September 2019. The latest creation by Sasha Waltz & Guests „RAUSCHEN“ will be shown next to other dates at the Volksbühne from 24 to 27 October 2019 and in May 2020 in Brussels. Further guest performances are planned.
