Das Berliner Schloss/ Humboldtforum eröffnet 2020

Nachdem ursprünglich das Berliner Schloss mit seinem Humboldtforum am 14. September 2019 eröffnet werden sollte, ist dieser Termin jetzt auf den Sommer 2020 verlegt worden.
Pressekonferenz heute morgen um 10.00 Uhr.
Ort: Das zukünftige Berliner Schloss, bzw. Humboldtforum.
Der neugierigen Pressemeute wurden die fast fertigen Ausstellungsräume der BERLIER AUSSTELLUNG gezeigt (ein Teil des Gesamtkonzepts des Humboldtforums) und sein späteres Schlüsselwerk:
Die stählerne Tür zum Tresorraum des ehemaligen Kaufhauses Wertheim an der Leipziger Strasse (heute: „Mall of Berlin“).
Eigentlich würde man einer solchen Stahltür keine große Aufmerksamkeit schenken, findet man sie doch in jeder Bank.
Aber diese Tür hat eine Besonderheit:
Sie war Anfang der 1990er Jahre der Eingang zum legendären Club „TRESOR“, der in den Tresorräumen des ehemaligen Kaufhauses Wertheim eingerichtet war und mit seiner damals noch neuartigen Techno-Musik weltweit bekannt wurde.

Als ab 2005 an gleicher Stelle die neue „Mall of Berlin“ Einkaufsmeile gebaut wurde, konnte der ehemalige Gründer des Clubs „Tresor“, Dimitri Hegemann, die Tür und einige andere Gegenstände vor der Vernichtung retten und sie an anderer Stelle verwahren.
Und jetzt erhält die Tresortür einen Stammplatz an prominenter Stelle. Als Erinnerung an eine Zeit nach der Wende, wo Freiräume sich aufmachten, die vorher undenkbar schienen. Eine Freiheit von wenigen Jahren. Eine Zeit, die wohl nie mehr wiederkommen wird.
Die Tresortür des Club „TRESOR“ wird Teil der sogenannten BERLIN AUSSTELLUNG, eines von vielen Ausstellungsthemen, welche im Humboldtforum realisiert werden. Mit den Unterthemen: „Weltdenken“, „Berlin Bilder“, „Revolution“, „Grenzen“, „Freiraum“, „Vergnügen“, „Krieg“, „Mode“ und „Vernetzung“.
Die 3,5 Tonnen schwere Tresortür wird zwischen de Bereichen „Grenzen“ und „Freiraum“ stehen.
Das Berliner Stadtschloss 1702
Als das Berliner Stadtschloss, Sitz der preußischen Könige und des Deutschen Kaisers, im 2. Weltkrieg stark beschädigt und durch einen Beschluss der DDR Regierung im Herbst 1950 sogar gesprengt wurde, gab es große Proteste von vielen Wissenschaftlern, Historikern und Politikern. Vergeblich.
An seine Stelle trat ab 1974 der scheußliche Palast der Republik, mit orangenfarbigen Fenstern und Möbeln und Lampen im 70er Jahre Design.
Er wurde im Volksmund auch „Erichs Lampenlade“ (nach dem Staatsratsvorsitzenden Erich Honecker) genannt.
Als im November 1989 die Mauer fiel begann nur wenige Monate später eine engagierte Initiative zum Wiederaufbau des Berliner Stadtschlosses.
Sowohl von privater Seite, unter Führung von Wilhelm von Boddien, als auch von politischer Seite.
Model des Berliner Stadtschlosses um 1900
Am 4. Juli 2002 verabschiedete der Deutsche Bundestag mit einer 2/3 Mehrheit den Beschluss zum Wiederaufbau des Schlosses.
Das Konzept: Ein Neubau, bei dem drei Seiten die historische Fassade des alten Schlosses zeigen sollte.
Eine Expertenkommission wurde eingesetzt, um eine Idee für eine spätere Nutzung zu finden.
Ergebnis: Es soll ein Museum werden zum Thema Kulturen der Welt unter dem Titel „Humboldt Forum im Berliner Schloss“.
Das Berliner Stadtschloss 1945
Eigentlich sollte das Humboldtforum nur Kunst, Kunsthandwerk und archäologische Funde aus den außereuropäischen Ländern dieser Welt zeigen. Hierzu werden das Ethnologische Museum und das Museum für Asiatische Kunst in das Humboldtforum verlegt.
Der Namensgeber Alexander von Humboldt (*1769 – †1859) war Anfang des 19. Jahrhundert zu langen Exkursionen auf verschiedene Kontinente gereist, besonders nach Nord- und Südamerika und Zentralasien. Die vielen Kulturen seiner Forschungsreisen sollten sich in den Ausstellungen im Humboldtforum wiederspiegeln.
Ab 2015 entstand die Idee im Humboldtforum nicht nur über die Kulturen der Welt, sondern auch auch etwas über die Stadt Berlin zu zeigen.
Mit der Umsetzung und Durchführung wurde die landeseigene KULTURPROJEKTE BERLIN GmbH betraut unter ihrem Leiter Moritz van Dülmen.
Für die thematische und inhaltliche Konzeption ist der seit 2016 amtierende Direktor des Stadtmuseums, Paul Spies, zuständig, der mittlerweile auch Chef-Kurator des gesamten Humboldtforums geworden ist.
Das Ziel für die BERLIN AUSSTELIUNG im Humboldtforum ist es, darzustellen, wie die Welt auf Berlin Einfluss genommen hat, aber auch, wie Berlin selbst auf andere Kulturen gewirkt hat und immer noch wirkt.
Dafür ist ein Großteil des 1. Stocks des Humboldtforums mit einer Fläche von 4.000 qm (von insgesamt 55.000 qm Nutzungsfläche) vorgesehen.
Im 2. Stock hält das Ethnologische Museum Einzug, im 3. Stock das Museum für Asiatische Kunst.
Wahrscheinlicher (und vorläufiger) Eröffnungstermin: Sommer 2020.

The Berlin City Palace will open in 2020

After the Berlin Palace was to be opened with its Humboldt Forum on September 14, 2019, this date has now been moved to the summer of 2020.
But today’s press conference had another reason:
The curious press people were shown the almost finished showrooms of the BERLIER EXHIBITION and his later key work:
The steel door to the vault of the former Wertheim department store on Leipziger Strasse (today: „Mall of Berlin“ – departmentstore).
Actually, you would not pay much attention to such a steel door, you can find it in every bank. But this door has a special feature: at the beginning of the 1990s, it was the entrance to the legendary club „TRESOR“, which was set up in the vaults of the former Wertheim department store and became known around the world for its then-new electronic Techno Music (or House Music).
When the new „Mall of Berlin“ was built at the same location in 2005, the former founder of the „Tresor“ club, Dimitri Hegemann, was able to save the door and some other objects from destruction and keep them elsewhere. And now the steel door gets a regular seat in a prominent place. As a reminder of a time after the fall, where open spaces opened up, which previously seemed unthinkable. A time that will probably never come back.
The steel door of the „TRESOR“ becomes part of the so-called BERLIN EXHIBITION, one of many exhibition themes that will be realized in the Humboldt Forum. With the subtopics: „Weltdenken“, „Berlin Images“, „Revolution“, „Borders“, „Freiraum“, „Pleasure“, „War“, „Fashion“ and „Networking“.
The 3.5-ton safe door will stand between the areas of „borders“ and „Freiraum“.
When the Berlin Palace, seat of the Prussian kings and the German Emperor, was badly damaged in the Second World War and was blown up by a decision of the GDR government in the fall of 1950, there were great protests from many scientists, historians and politicians. In vain.
In its place came from 1974 the ugly „Palace of the Republic“, with orange-colored windows and furniture and lamps in the 70s design.
He was popularly called „Erichs Lampenladen“ (after GDR-Leader Erich Honecker).
A few months later, when the Berlin Wall fell, a committed initiative to rebuild Berlin’s City Palace began. Both from the private side, under the leadership of Wilhelm von Boddien, as well as from the political side.
On July 4, 2002, the German Bundestag passed a resolution to rebuild the castle with a 2/3 majority. The concept: a new building, in which three sides should show the historic facade of the castle. An expert commission was used to find an idea for later use.
Result: a museum on the subject of cultures of the world under the title „Humboldt Forum in Berlin Castle“.
The Humboldt Forum should show art, crafts and archaeological objects from the non-European countries of the world. The Ethnological Museum and the Museum of Asian Art will be relocated to the Humboldtforum.
The name donors, the famous german scientist Alexander von Humboldt (*1769 – †1859) had traveled in the early 19th century for long excursions on various continents, especially to North and South America and Central Asia. The many cultures of his research trips should be reflected in the exhibitions in the Humboldtforum / Berliner Schloss.
From 2015, the idea was born to show in the Humboldt Forum not only about the cultures of the world, but also something about the city of Berlin.
The state-owned KULTURPROJEKTE BERLIN GmbH was entrusted with the implementation of this project under its director Moritz van Dülmen. For the thematic and content-related conception, the director of the Stadtmuseum, Paul Spies, has been in charge of it since 2016. Paul Spies is now also the chief curator of the entire Humboldt Forum.
The aim of the BERLIN EXHIBITION in the Humboldt Forum is to show how the world has influenced Berlin, but also how Berlin itself has influenced other cultures. For this purpose, a large part of the first floor of the Humboldt Forum with an area of 4,000 square meters (of a total of 55,000 square meters of usable space) is planned. The Ethnological Museum is on the second floor, and the Museum of Asian Art on the third floor.
Probable (provisional) opening date: summer 2020.
