In der Woche nach Ostern liefen viele Filme mit Hollywood Stars an:
Das ist zunächst der Film „A WRINKLE IN TIME“ (Das Zeiträtsel) mit den Superstars Oprah Winfrey und Reese Witherspoon: Der Vater des jungen Mädchens Meg (Storm Reid), ein berühmter Wissenschaftler, verschwindet eines Tages unter mysteriösen Umständen. Um ihn zu retten muss Meg durch Zeit und Raum wandern und viele Abenteuer bestehen. – Eine nette Fantasy Geschichte, aber nicht wirklich überzeugend.
Und „GRINGO“ mit Charlize Theron und Amanda Seyfried: Harold (David Oyelowo), ein unbescholtener kleine Angestellter eines großen Konzerns kriegt heraus, dass seine Chefs in kriminelle Machenschaften verwickelt ist. Um denen eins auszuwischen und um selbst viel Kohle abzukassieren täuscht er seine eigene Entführung vor. – Ganz nett, aber auch nicht wirklich ein Hit.
Besser sind da schon:
„FILM STARS DON’T DIE IN LIVERPOOL“ – Drama – GB – 2018

Cast: Annette Benning. Jamie Bell, Vanessa Redgrave, Julie Walters

Allein der Name ist schon gut und lässt auf Interessantes schließen. Der Zuschauer wird auch nicht enttäuscht. Nach einer wahren Begebenheit wird erzählt, wie sich eine 50-jährige ehemalige Filmdiva in einen 20-jährigen Nachbarn verliebt. Als sie letztlich schwer krank wird, wird sie von ihm und seinen Eltern in deren Haus bis zu ihrem Tod liebevoll umsorgt. Annette Benning als Gloria Graham (erhielt wirklich für ihre Rolle in „Stadt der Illusionen“ 1953 einen Oscar) spielt hinreißend und Jamie Bell als junger Liebhaber absolut überzeugend. Großes Kino!.

„READY PLAYER ONE“ – Science Fiction – USA – 2017

Wenn es um perfekte Action- und Abenteuerfilme geht, die von der ganzen Familie anzuschauen ist (also nicht zu brutal und nicht zu sexy), dann ist es sicher ein Steven Spielberg Film. Ob „Der Weiße Hai“, oder „E.T.“ oder die drei Filme von „Jäger des verlorenen Schatzes“, immer lässt es Spielberg ordentlich krachen, vermischt mit viel Humor und den neusten Spezialeffekten. Genauso ist es in seinem neusten Werk „Ready Player One“. Der Film spielt 2045 und, wie Ihr Euch schon denken könnt, in einer von Umweltkatastrophen und Überbevölkerung heimgesuchten Welt. Einziger Ausweg: Die Flucht per VR Brille in eine virtuelle Welt, die eine Umgebung zeigt, in der wir eigentlich gerne leben würden. Auch hier hat Spielberg wieder die neuste Computertechnik eingesetzt, besonders in 3D einfach umwerfend. Die Geschichte: Der geniale Erfinder dieser OASIS genannten künstlichen Welt, James Halliday (Mark Rylance), ist verstorben. Doch kurz vor seinem Tod hat er den Nutzern seiner Computerwelt eine Aussicht auf sein Erbe gegeben: Wer alle die von ihm gestellten Aufgaben löst, wird sein Nachfolger und erbt das virtuelle Reich. Der junge Wade (Tye Sheridan) macht sich mit seinem Avatar Parzival an die Aufgaben, ebenso wie die hübsche Artemis (Olivia Cooke – eine Entdeckung) und Aech (Lena Waithe). Dabei werden sie in die Welt der 80er Jahre hineingeworfen, fahren mit einem DeLorean aus „Zurück in die Zukunft“, müssen mit einem Atari-Videospiel umgehen können, hören die Musik von Duran Duran und sehen Filmzitate aus Batman und Monty Python. Steven Spielberg at its best.

In the week after Easter, many films starred with Hollywood stars:
First of all, this is the movie „A WRINKLE IN TIME“ starring Oprah Winfrey and Reese Witherspoon: the father of the young girl Meg (Storm Reid), a famous scientist, disappears one day under mysterious circumstances. To save him, Meg has to wander through time and space and pass many adventures. – A nice fantasy story, but not really convincing.
And „GRINGO“ with Charlize Theron and Amanda Seyfried: Harold (David Oyelowo), a respectable little employee of a large corporation, finds out that his bosses are involved in criminal activities. To mop those up and to cash himself a lot, he pretends his own kidnapping. – Quite nice, but not really a hit.
These are already better:

The title is already good and suggests interest. The viewer will not be disappointed. After a true story: a 50-year-old former film diva falls in love with a 20-year-old neighbor. When she finally gets seriously ill, she is lovingly cared for by him and his parents in their house until her death. Annette Benning as Gloria Graham (really got an Oscar for her role in „City of Illusions“ in 1953) plays ravishingly and Jamie Bell as the young lover is absolutely convincing. Great cinema!

When it comes to perfect action and adventure films that the whole family can watch (not too brutal and not too sexy), it’s certainly a Steven Spielberg movie. Whether „The White Shark“, or „E.T.“ or the three films of „Hunter of the lost treasure,“ Spielberg always lets it crash, mixed with humor and the latest special effects. The same in his latest work „Ready Player One“. The film will be set in 2045 and, as you can imagine, in a world ravaged by environmental disasters and overcrowding. The only way out: The escape by VR glasses into a virtual world, showing an environment in which we would really like to live. Again, Spielberg has used the latest computer technology, especially in 3D simply stunning. The story: The ingenious inventor of this artificial world called OASIS, James Halliday (Mark Rylance), has passed away. But shortly before his death, he gave the users of his computer world a chance to see what his legacy was. Whoever solves all the tasks he has set becomes his successor and inherits the virtual empire. The young Wade (Tye Sheridan) takes on the task with his avatar Parzival, as well as the pretty Artemis (Olivia Cooke – a discovery) and Aech (Lena Waithe). They are thrown into the world of the 80s, drive with a DeLorean from „Back to the Future“, have to deal with an Atari video game, listen to the music of Duran Duran and see movie quotes from Batman and Monty Python. Steven Spielberg at its best.
