Trotz der Corona-Pandemie und trotz der Abwanderung der Modemessen PREMIUM, NEONIT und SEEK nach Frankfurt/ Main, wird die diesjährige BERLIN FASHION WEEK eine Mega-Veranstaltung mit zahlreichen Präsenz-Veranstaltungen.
Nachdem die BERLIN FASHION WEEK im Sommer letzten Jahres wegen des Corona-Virus komplett ausfallen musste und im Januar dieses Jahres zumindest eine Rumpfveranstaltung im Kraftwerk-Mitte an der Köpenickerstrasse durchführen konnte, verschob der Veranstalter die Sommer-Fashion-Week auf Anfang Herbst. Als die Entscheidung dazu im Frühjahr fiel, dachte jeder, dass Ende Sommer alle Bundesbürger durchgeimpft wären und die Pandemie damit quasi beendet ist.
Leider kam es dann doch nicht ganz so. Bis jetzt (Stand 4.9.2021) sind gerade mal 61% zweimal geimpft (erst bei 85 % tritt eine Herden-Immunität ein) und die Delta-Variante (ursprünglich aus Indien) hat die Inzidenz wieder auf über 80 für ganz Deutschland anwachsen lassen (Ende Juni 2012 lag die 7-Tage Inzidenz noch bei 5).
Deshalb wird auch diese BERLIN FASHION WEEK eine Hybrid-Veranstaltung. Es gibt sowohl digitale Formate als auch live shows.
DIE MERCEDES-BENZ-FASHION-WEEK
Vom 6. – 15. September 2021
Zentraler Veranstaltungsort ist wieder das beeindruckende Kraftwerk an der Köpenickerstrasse 70 in Berlin-Kreuzberg.
Hier finden die meisten Modenschauen und Panel-Talks und Konferenzen (wie The Berlin Fashion Summit) statt.
Los geht’s am Montag, den 6. September, mit einer Filmvorführung um 11.30 Uhr und einer Ausstellung mit 35 Designern

DER BERLINER SALON
Vom 6. – 8. September 2021
Der lange totgeglaubte BERLINER SALON, der früher noch zusammen mit dem VOGUE SALON im schönen Kronprinzenpalais Unter den Linden gezeigt wurde, hat sich jetzt mit der MBFW vereinigt und zeigt seine Ausstellung am gleichen Ort.
Allerdings nur als Ausstellung mit Kollektionen auf Schaufensterpuppen.

Fashion Shows

Es wird also auch wieder reale Modenschauen mit lebendigen Models geben!
Am Montag, den 6. September, um 21 Uhr mit der Kollektion der Nachwuchsdesignerin FLORENTINA LEITNER (Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Antwerpen).
Am Dienstag, den 7. September ISABEL VOLLRATH um 10 Uhr gefolgt von FASSBENDER um 13 Uhr, KILIAN KERNER um 17 Uhr und LML STUDIO um 21 Uhr.
Über den Tag verteilt zeigt MARCCAIN aber nur per Livestream eine Show/ Video unter dem Titel „The world is dancing“.
Am letzten Tag, Mittwoch, den 8. September, zeigt um 10 Uhr DANNY REINKE seine Kollektion, CLAUDIA SKODA einen Film und REBEKKA RUETZ um 13.00 Uhr ihre Show.
Um 16 Uhr gibt es eine Preisverleihung für die beste Modeschule, bzw. besten Nachwuchsdesigner in Deutschland (NEO:FASHION siehe weiter unten).

Neben diesem offiziellen Kalender gibt es natürlich auch Veranstaltungen, die parallel an anderen Orten laufen.
Wie z.B. die Show von MARCEL OSTERTAG am 8. September um 18.00 Uhr in Elisabeth-Kirche in der Invalidenstraße 3.
Und die gemeinsame Show der Designer WILLIAM FAN, MICHAEL SONTAG und RICHARD BEIL am 7. September von 15 – 18 Uhr in der Potsdamer Strasse 93, 10785 Berlin.

ABOUT YOU
Vom 11. – 15 September 2021
Der sehr erfolgreiche online-Shop aus Hamburg wird die BERLIN FASHION WEEK nutzen, um auch mal offline seine Modeangebote zu zeigen.
Nachdem im Kraftwerk am Mittwoch die offizielle MBFW zu Ende ist, geht es am selben Ort vom 11 – 15. September mit der ABOUT YOU FASHION WEEK nahtlos weiter. Dabei werden insgesamt 12 Modemarken gezeigt, darunter LeGer by Lena Gerke, Leni Klum x About You, A Lot Less by Lena Meyer-Landrut und Guido Maria Kretschmer.

Auf dieser zweitätigen Veranstaltung zeigen 13 Modeschulen aus ganz Deutschland ihre Abschlusskollektionen des letzten Jahrgangs

FASHION HALL
Am Montag, dem 6. September, gibt es ab 17.00 Uhr im ehemaligen Luxus-Einkaufstempel Quartier 206 (die ehemalige Boutique Departement Store) ein Meet & Greet der Fashion Szene und ab 19. Uhr eine Modenschau.

STUDIO2RETAIL
Vom 7. – 11. September 2021, jeweils von 11 – 19 Uhr
Im Haus Alhambra Berlin, Kurfürstendamm 68, 10707 Berlin
Hiermit wird ein neuartiges Konzept ausprobiert: in einem gerade frisch renovierten Gründerzeit-Gebäudes am Kudamm (vor dem Krieg das ehemalige Kino „Alhambra“) wird im Erdgeschoss ein großer Verkaufsraum eingerichtet, der jetzt als Concept-Store für die Zeit der BERLIN FASHION WEEK genutzt wird.
Hier eröffnet der FASHION COUNCIL GERMANY ein Designer-Pop-Up:
Es werden verschiedene Designer gezeigt, die von der Berliner Senatsverwaltung für Wirtschaft mit 82.000 Euro gefördert werden:

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin

Despite the corona pandemic and despite the migration of the PREMIUM, NEONIT and SEEK fashion fairs to Frankfurt / Main, this year’s BERLIN FASHION WEEK will be a mega event with numerous live shows.
After the BERLIN FASHION WEEK had to be completely canceled last summer due to the corona virus there was at least a smaller event at Kraftwerk-Mitte in January of this year for the A/W 2021 winter collections.
But for the summer Fashion Week S/S 2022 the organizer postponed the fashion week from July to September 2021.
When the decision was made in spring, everyone thought that by the end of summer all German citizens would be vaccinated and that the pandemic would almost be over.
Unfortunately it didn’t turn out that way. Up to now (as of September 4, 2021) just 61% have been vaccinated twice (herd immunity only occurs in 85%) and the delta variant (originally from India) has increased the incidence to over 80 for all of Germany ( At the end of June 2012, the 7-day incidence was 5).
This is why this BERLIN FASHION WEEK will also be a hybrid event. There are both digital formats and live shows.

THE MERCEDES-BENZ FASHION WEEK
from September 6-15, 2021
The central venue is once again the impressive power plant at Köpenickerstrasse 70 in Berlin-Kreuzberg.
Most of the fashion shows and panel talks and conferences (such as The Berlin Fashion Summit) take place here.
It starts on Monday, September 6th, with a film screening at 11.30 a.m. and an exhibition with 35 designers:
THE BERLINER SALON
From September 6th to 8th, 2021
The BERLINER SALON, long believed dead, which was previously shown together with the VOGUE SALON in the beautiful Kronprinzenpalais Unter den Linden, has now merged with the MBFW and is showing its exhibition at the same location.
However, only as an exhibition with collections on mannequins.

Fashion Shows
September 6th – 15th, 2021
There will be real fashion shows with lively models again!
On Monday, September 6th, at 9 p.m. with the collection of up-and-coming designer FLORENTINA LEITNER (Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Antwerp). On Tuesday, September 7th, ISABEL VOLLRATH at 10 a.m. followed by FASSBENDER at 1 p.m., KILIAN KERNER at 5 p.m. and LML STUDIO (Lucas Meyer-Leclère) at 9 p.m. Over the course of the day, MARCCAIN will only show a show / video under the title „The world is dancing“ via livestream. On the last day, Wednesday, September 8th, DANNY REINKE will show his collection at 10 a.m., CLAUDIA SKODA will show a film and REBEKKA RUETZ will show her show at 1 p.m. At 4 p.m. there will be an award ceremony for the best fashion school or best young designer in Germany (NEO: FASHION see below).
In addition to this official calendar, there are of course also events that run in parallel at other locations.
Such as the MARCEL OSTERTAG show on September 8th at 6:00 p.m. in Elisabeth Church in Invalidenstrasse 3 and the show by the designers WILLIAM FAN, MICHAEL SONTAG and RICHARD BEIL on September 7th from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in Potsdamer Strasse 93, 10785 Berlin.

ABOUT YOU
From September 11th – 15th, 2021
The very successful online shop from Hamburg will use the BERLIN FASHION WEEK to show its fashion offers offline.
After the official MBFW in the Kraftwerk is over on Wednesday, the ABOUT YOU FASHION WEEK will continue seamlessly at the same location from September 11th to 15th. A total of 12 fashion brands will be shown, including LeGer by Lena Gerke, Leni Klum x About You, A Lot Less by Lena Meyer-Landrut and Guido Maria Kretschmer.
GREEN FASHION FAIR
From September 10th to 12th, 2021, from 8 p.m. in the evening until 8 p.m. the next evening, exhibition with collections of sustainable fashion in Haus Ungarn, Karl-Liebknecht-Str. 9, 10178 Berlin-Mitte

At this two-day event, 13 fashion schools from all over Germany will be showing their final collections from the last year in the Alte Münze, Molkenmarkt 2, 101179 Berlin-Mitte.
FASHION HALL
On Monday, September 6th, there will be a meet & greet of the fashion scene from 5 p.m. in the former luxury shopping temple Quartier 206 (the former boutique department store) and a fashion show from 7 p.m.
