Die Golden Globes 2020 in Los Angeles

Die großen Gewinner bei der diesjährigen Golden Globe Verleihung waren die Filme „1917“ von Sam Mendes und „Once Upon a Time in Hollywood“ von Quentin Tarantino.
Einen Monat vor den OSCARS findet traditionell die Verleihung der sogenannten GOLDEN GLOBES statt.
Sie werden von den Journalisten der ausländischen Presse in Los Angeles, der Hollywood Foreign Press Association vergeben. Ca. 90 ausgewählte ausländische Journalisten verleihen die Preise in 25 Film – und Fernsehkategorien.
Die Golden Globes unterscheiden sich aber insofern zu den OSCARS, dass in den Hauptkategorien, wie Bester Film, Beste Regie oder Bester Darsteller, zwischen den Kategorien „Drama“ und „Komödie bzw. Musical“ unterschieden wird.
Die große Bedeutung von GOLDEN GLOBES und den OSCARS zeigt, dass die amerikanische Filmindustrie immer noch führend in der Welt ist.
Als 1895 die Brüder Lumière in Paris den Film erfanden, war Frankreich bis Mitte der 10er Jahre des 20. Jahrhunderts führend in der Produktion von Cinémathographie. Doch der 1. Weltkrieg bedeutete einen großen Rückschlag für die Branche in ganz Europa, währenddessen sich weit vom Kriegsgeschehen entfernt, im kalifornischen Hollywood, mehrere Filmproduzenten, wie Samuel Goldwyn und William Fox, niederließen und einen Film nach dem anderen produzierten.
Bereits in den 20er Jahren des 19. Jahrhunderts war die Übermacht des amerikanischen Films so groß, dass schon damals Importbeschränkungen in Europa eingeführt werden mussten, um die einheimischen Filme zu schützen. Und das hat sich bis heute nicht geändert.
Die Golden Globe-Night in Beverly Hills:
In der Nacht vom 5. auf den 6. Januar 2020 wurden zum 77. Mal von der ausländischen Presse die Golden Globes im Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills vergeben.
Comedian Ricky Gervais führte durch die Sendung und nahm viele der Anwesenden auf die Schippe. Von der Körpergröße Martin Scorseses über DiCaprios Vorliebe für Mädchen Anfang 20 bis zu der heurigen Übermacht der Streamingdienste wie Netflix, Amazon Prime oder Apple (die allerdings keinen einzigen Preis bekamen, siehe weiter unten).
Und der GRETA-THUNBERG-Effekt war auch hier zu spüren: Es gab ausschließlich veganes Essen!
Der größte Gewinner war der britische Regisseur Sam Mendes mit seinem Kriegsfilm „1917“. Er gewann die beiden wichtigsten Preise, Bester Film und Beste Regie in der Kategorie „Drama“. Der Film läuft bei uns am 16. Januar 2020 an. Er handelt von zwei britischen Soldaten im 1. Weltkrieg, die sich durch die feindlichen Linien schlagen müssen, um eine wichtige Botschaft zu überbringen, die Hunderten ihrer Kameraden das Leben retten könnte. Der Film wurde von Sam Mendes so realisiert, als wäre er in einem einzigen „Take“ gedreht worden.
Die größte Überraschung: Die beiden Netflix-Produktionen, „THE IRISMAN“ von Martin Scorsese und „DIE ZWEI PÄPSTE“ („The two Popes“) von Fernando Meirelles gingen leer aus, obwohl sie die meisten Nominierungen hatten.
Der größte Aufreger: Mitten in der Ankündigung für die Preisverleihung an Fernsehmoderatorin Ellen DeGeneres standen plötzlich Beyoncé (Fotos in der Bilderserie) und Jay-Z im Raum (Beyoncé war nominiert für ihren Song „Spirit“ für den Film „König der Löwen“). Alle Kameras drehten sich sofort nach ihnen um. Ursprünglich hieß es, dass sie nicht kommen würden. Aber sie warteten geduldig, bis die Laudatio an die berühmte Fernsehmoderatorin beendet war und setzten sich dann hin. Zusätzlich hatte ihr Bodyguard ihnen heimlich ihren Lieblings-Champagner (Armand de Brignac Champagne, 270 Euro die Flasche) mitgebracht, obwohl das offizielle Getränk ein Moet & Chandon war. Selber etwas mitnehmen war offiziell untersagt, doch bei Beyoncé und Jay-Z wurde wohl eine Ausnahme gemacht.
Der zweite große Sieger in dieser Nacht war wieder einmal Quentin Tarantino mit seinem Film „ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD“.
Er gewann den Preis für den besten Film in der Kategorie „Komödie“ und für das beste Drehbuch.
Außerdem bekam Brad Pitt einen Golden Globe als bester Nebendarsteller. Sein Mitspieler Leonardo DiCaprio dagegen konnte keinen Award mit nach Hause nehmen.
Renée Zellweger bekam den Darstellerpreis für ihre Rolle als Judy Garland in „Judy“.
Joaquin Phoenix bekam den Preis als bester Hauptdarsteller für seine Rolle im Film „Joker“ in der Kategorie „Drama“.
Der britische Schauspieler Taron Egerton bekam den Darstellerpreis in der Kategorie „Komödie“ für seine Rolle des Elton John im Film „Rocketman“.
Elton John selbst bekam den Preis für den besten Filmsong.
Bester nicht-englischer Film wurde der südkoreanische Film „PARASITE“ von Bong Joon Ho.
Schauspieler Tom Hanks und US-Fernsehmoderatorin Ellen DeGeneres bekamen Ehrenpreise überreicht.
Und der größte Gewinner war wieder einmal die amerikanische Filmindustrie.

The big winners at this year’s Golden Globe Awards were the movies „1917“ by Sam Mendes and „Once Upon a Time in Hollywood“ by Quentin Tarantino.
The GOLDEN GLOBES are traditionally awarded one month before the OSCARS. They are distributed by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. Approximately 90 selected foreign journalists award the prizes in 25 film and television categories.
The Golden Globes differ from the Oscar in the main categories, such as Best Film, Best Director or Best Actor, because they are separated in two categories: „drama“ and „comedy/ musical“.
The great importance of GOLDEN GLOBES and the OSCARS shows that the American film industry is still the world leader.
When the Lumière brothers invented the film in Paris in 1895, France was a leader in the production of cinematography until the mid-10s of the 20th century. But World War I was a major setback for the film industry across Europe. And far from the war, in Hollywood, California, where several film producers such as Samuel Goldwyn and William Fox settled and produced one film after the other.
Already in the 20s of the 19th century the American film was so powerful that import restrictions had to be introduced in Europe to protect their own films. And that hasn’t changed to this day.
The Golden Globe Night in Beverly Hills:
On the night of January 5 to 6, 2020, the Golden Globes in the Hilton Hotel of Beverly Hills were awarded for the 77th time by the foreign press.

The biggest winner last night was by Sam Mendes for his movie „1917“. He won the two most important awards, Best Film and Best Director in the „Drama“ category. The movie starts on January 16, 2020 in Germany. It is about two British soldiers who have to fight through enemy lines to deliver an important message that could save the lives of hundreds of their comrades. The film was realized by Sam Mendes as if it had been shot in a single „take“.
The biggest surprise: The two Netflix productions, „THE IRISMAN“ by Martin Scorsese and „DIE ZWEI PÄPSTE“ („The two Popes“) by Fernando Meirelles went away empty-handed, even they had the most nominations.
The biggest excitement: In the middle of the announcement for the award ceremony to television presenter Ellen DeGeneres, Beyoncé (photos in the picture series) and Jay-Z stood suddenly in the room. All cameras immediately turned to look at them. Originally it was said that they would not come (Beyoncé was nominated for her song „Spirit“ for the movie „The Lion King“).
