Die HUGO Fashion Show im Motorenwerk in Berlin-Weissensee war das Highlight während der Berlin Fashion Week.
Die Fashionistas in Berlin hatten sich schon daran gewöhnt, dass keine der großen Marken mehr zu der Berlin Fashion Week kommen wollte. Keine Strenesse mehr, keine Rena Lange mehr, keine Escada mehr. Nur noch knapp 16 Modenschauen in drei Tagen, wo es früher mal über 60 Shows an 5 Tagen gab. Ist die Berlin Fashion Week am Ende? Doch selbst wenn die offizielle Berlin Fashion Week in ihrer bisherigen Form stirbt, wird sie mittlerweile von mehreren anderen Organisationen ersetzt. So z.B. von dem BERLNER SALON im Kronprinzenpalais, oder von dem Fashion Council Germany (deren Schützling Lutz Huelle zeigte im Club Berghain), von den Ordermessen, wie der PREMIUM (über 500 Marken), der SEEK (über 250 Marken), der BRIGHT (über 60 Marken) und der TechFashion, dem GREEN Showroom, u.s.w. Und von ein paar mutigen Designern, die sich im Zeitplan anhängen, aber nicht im E-Werk, der offiziellen Location, sondern „Offsite“ zeigen.
So auch HUGO.
Diese Freiheit, nicht an einen bestimmten Ort gebunden zu sein, lässt die Phantasie blühen. Und bringt das Publikum zu außergewöhnlichen Orten. Wie bei HUGO, als ich mich mitten in einer Gegend im Nord-Osten von Berlin befinde, in der ich niemals vorher gewesen bin. Immer der Bundesstraße B2 entlang bis zum Weissensee (in dem ich auch noch nie gebadet habe, der aber schön sein soll) und dann irgendwie links rein. Auf meinem Roller erreiche ich nach ca. 20 Minuten einen beeindruckenden Backsteinbau, der, wie mir erzählt, 1921 erbaut wurde, um Elektromotoren herzustellen. Das würde auch zu unserem heutigen Zeitalter passen.

Vor dem Motorenwerk Absperrgitter und viele schwarze Benz-Limousinen. Hinter der Absperrung tummeln sich schon an die 150 Gäste, viel junge Berliner Prominenz. Insbesondere Schauspieler, wie z.B. Sabin Tambera („Kudamm 56“), Anna-Maria Mühe („Novemberkind“), Lilith Stangenberg („Wild“), Lisa Maria Koroll („Bibi & Tina“) und die hübsche Nilam Farooq („Mein Blind Date mit dem Leben“) und viele andere.

Auf dem Laufsteg wurden ebenfalls mehrere Top Models angekündigt, allen voran Presley Gerber, Bruder von Supermodel Kaia Gerber und Sohn von Cindy Crawford. Nach einem Glas Weisswein und kleinen Snacks ging es drinnen auch schon los: In diesem Bau, der wie eine Kirche in ein ca. 10 Meter hohes Mittelschiff und zwei kleineren Seitenschiffen unterteilt ist, empfängt mich ein Laserlicht-Bitzgewitter und dröhnende Bässe. DJ Hell gibt sein Bestes. Nebelschwaden entweichen aus dicken Rohren und die ersten Models treten auf. Die Kollektion, genannt „Mixmasters“, ist eine Farben- und Stoffmischung, von elegant-klassisch über Urban und Streetwear bis zum Cluboutfit fürs Berghain oder Watergate. Besonders auffallend sind die starken grünen Neonfarben, die mal als einzelne Farbelemente, mal als ganze Anzüge über den Laufsteg schweben.

Eine tolle Show für Auge und Ohr!
Nach ca. 15 Minuten ist alles vorbei. Oder doch nicht? Plötzlich steht Rapper Wiz Khalifa auf der Bühne und legt los. Alles schwingt, wippt und wackelt mit Hintern, Armen und Beinen. Derweil wird draußen an verschiedenen Ständen Leckereien und Champagner serviert.
Wenn die Berlin Fashion Week überall so kreativ gestaltet wäre, dann könnte sie sich tatsächlich eines Tages in andere Mode Metropolen, wie Paris, Mailand und New York, einreihen. Doch das wird noch eine Weile dauern. Aber es könnte klappen! Vielleicht.

The absolute highlight during the Berlin Fashion Week was the HUGO Fashion Show at a brick stone building in Berlin-Weissensee.
The fashionistas in Berlin had become accustomed to the fact that none of the big brands wanted to come to Berlin Fashion Week anymore. No more Strenesse, no more Rena Lange, no more Laurèl. There are only 16 fashion shows in three days, where there used to be over 60 shows in 5 days.
Is Berlin Fashion Week at the end?
But even if the official Berlin Fashion Week dies in its current form, it is now being replaced by several other organizations. For example, from the BERLNER SALON in the Kronprinzenpalais (report to follow), or from the Fashion Council Germany (whose protégé Lutz Huelle showed in Club Berghain), from the order fairs, such as the PREMIUM (over 500 brands), the SEEK (over 250 brands), the BRIGHT (over 60 brands), the TechFashion, the GREEN Showroom, etc. And by some brave designers who are on schedule, but not in the E-Werk, the official location, but show offsite.
So HUGO.
This liberty of not being bound to a particular place makes the imagination bloom. And brings the audience to extraordinary places. Like HUGO, when I am in the middle of an area in the north-east of Berlin where I have never been before. You go always the highway B2 along to the lake Weissensee (in which I have never bathed, but should be nice) and then somehow left. On my scooter I reached after 20 minutes an impressive brick building, which, as I was told, was built in 1921 to produce electric motors. That would also fit our present age.
In front of the engine factory were safety gates and many black Benz sedans. Behind the barrier around 150 guests, lots of young Berlin celebrities. In particular, actors such as Sabin Tambera („Kudamm 56“), Anna-Maria Mühe („Novemberkind“), Lilith Stangenberg („Wild“), Lisa Maria Koroll („Bibi & Tina“) and the pretty Nilam Farooq („My Blind Date with Life „) and many others. From New York photo model Lorena Rae has arrived. She is said to have an affair with American Oscar winner Leonardo DiCaprio. In his place I would have fallen in love with her too …
Also on the catwalk, several top models have been announced, especially Presley Gerber, brother of supermodel Kaia Gerber and son of Cindy Crawford.
After a glass of white wine and small snacks, it started inside: In this building, which is like a church divided into a 10 -meter high nave and two smaller aisles, receives me a laser light thunderstorm and booming basses. DJ Hell does his best. Wafts of mist escape from thick pipes and the first models appear. The collection is a mix of colors and materials, from elegant classic to urban and streetwear to club outfits for Berghain or Watergate. Particularly striking are the strong green neon colors, which sometimes float as individual color elements, sometimes as entire suits over the catwalk.
A great show for the eyes and ears!
After about 15 minutes everything is over. Or not? Suddenly rapper Wiz Khalifa stands on stage and launches his music. Everything is swinging, rocking and wobbling with butts, arms and legs. Meanwhile, treats and champagne are served outside at various stalls.
If Berlin Fashion Week were to be so creative everywhere, then one day it could actually join other fashion metropolises such as Paris, Milan and New York. That will take a while. But it could work!
