Die Berliner Pubs dürften am Montagabend ein bisschen leerer gewesen sein als sonst und das aus einem triftigen Grund: Liam Gallagher gab ein Solokonzert in der Columbiahalle und das durften natürlich vor allem die britischen Berlinbewohner nicht verpassen.
Auch aus diesem Grund verkauften sich die Tickets so rasant, dass das Konzert von „Huxley’s Neue Welt“ in die Columbiahalle verlegt werden musste, die dementsprechend rappelvoll war.
Das tat der Stimmung keinen Abbruch – ganz im Gegenteil. Als Liam Gallagher direkt am Anfang mit Oasis-Songs wie „Rock ’n Roll Star“ und „Morning Glory“ loslegte, explodierte die Partystimmung wie auf Knopfdruck und man fühlte sich fast wie auf einem Oasis-Konzert der 90er Jahre: die ersten erschöpften Mädels mussten aus der Menge gezogen werden, Bierbecher flogen auf die Bühne und die mitsingende Menge erreichte fast Stadionlautstärke.
Dagegen wirkte Liam Gallagher sehr ruhig, unauffällig und fast schon untypisch bescheiden: Beleidigungen, vor allem gegen Bruder Noel blieben komplett aus, die F-Wörter hielten sich in Grenzen und auch Selbstlob und Vergleiche mit Gott suchte man vergeblich. Eher machte er den Eindruck, als wolle er in erster Linie ein anständiges und erwachsenes Konzert abliefern, was ihm auch gelang. Seine eigenen Hits wie „Wall Of Glass“ und „For What It’s Worth“ wurden genauso professionell rübergebracht wie die weiteren Oasis-Songs. „Some Might Say“ und auch „Slide Away“ führten zu einem erneuten Publikumschor in voller Lautstärke, dessen Stimmung sich durch weitere Solohits zog, um dann erneut bei Oasis-Klassikern zu eskalieren. Bei „Wonderwall“ war dann der absolute Höhepunkt beim Publikum erreicht. Schaute man sich um, sah man nicht eine einzige Person, die nicht – zumindest leise – mitsang. Vom Security-Mann über die Thekenbedienung bis zur Toilettenfrau.
Fast schon klammheimlich verließ Liam Gallagher anschließend die Bühne um die zwei Minuten bis zu den obligatorischen Zugaben abzuwarten. Zur Freude der meisten Fans bestanden auch die komplett aus Oasis-Songs: „Supersonic“, „Cigarettes & Alcohol“ und „Live Forever“ – dem Song, den Liam nach eigener Aussage am allerliebsten performt.
Nun machte sich im Publikum aber ein klein wenig Enttäuschung breit: Sollte das Konzert wirklich nach nur 70 Minuten zu Ende sein?
So war es leider. Die Lichter gingen an und nun entstanden genau die Diskussionen an den Bars, die man nach einem solchen Konzert schon als Klassiker bezeichnen kann: „Werden Liam und Noel sich wieder vertragen? Hassen sie sich wirklich so oder ist das alles ein PR-Gag? Werden wir in diesem Leben noch einmal Oasis zusammen auf der Bühne sehen?“ Diese Frage kann wohl keiner beantworten und wahrscheinlich sind es genau diese Hoffnung und dieser Mythos, die dafür sorgen werden, dass auch in den nächsten Jahren die Konzerte von Liam und Noel Gallagher ausverkauft sein werden.

The Berlin pubs should have been a bit emptier on Monday evening than usual and for a good reason: Liam Gallagher gave a solo concert in the Columbiahalle and that was of course especially for the British Berlin residents not to miss.
Also for this reason, the tickets sold so fast that the concert of „Huxley’s New World“ had to be relocated to the Columbiahalle, which was accordingly jam-packed.
That did not detract from the mood – quite the contrary. When Liam Gallagher started with Oasis songs like „Rock ’n Roll Star“ and „Morning Glory“ right at the beginning, the party mood exploded as if by the touch of a button and you almost felt like you were at an Oasis concert of the 90s: the first exhausted girls had to be pulled out of the crowd, beer cups flew onto the stage and the singing crowd reached almost stadium volume.
By contrast, Liam Gallagher seemed very calm, inconspicuous and almost uncharacteristically modest: insults, especially against Brother Noel, were completely out, the F-words were limited and also self-praise and comparisons with God didn’t come. Rather, he made the impression as if he wanted to deliver a decent and adult concert in the first place, which he succeeded. His own hits such as „Wall Of Glass“ and „For What It’s Worth“ have been presented as professionally as the other Oasis songs. „Some Might Say“ and also „Slide Away“ led to a renewed audience choir in full volume, whose mood moved through more solo hits, and then to escalate again in Oasis classics. With „Wonderwall“ the absolute highlight of the audience was reached. Looking around, you did not see a single person who was not singing – at least softly. From the security man over the counter service to the rest room woman.
Almost clandestinely, Liam Gallagher then left the stage to wait for the two minutes to the obligatory additions. To the delight of most of the fans there were also completely Oasis songs: „Supersonic“, „Cigarettes & Alcohol“ and „Live Forever“ – the song that Liam says he loves best.
But a little bit of disappointment spread in the audience: Should the concert really be over after only 70 minutes?
That’s how it was. The lights went on and now exactly the discussions at the bars, which can be described as a classic after such a concert: „Will Liam and Noel get along again? Do they really hate each other or is it all a public relations stunt? Will we see Oasis on stage again in this life? “
Nobody can answer this questions, and it is probably this hope and myth that will ensure that Liam’s and Noel Gallagher’s concerts will be sold out in the years to come.
