Vincent Peters in der Galerie Camera Work

Klassische Portrait- und Aktfotografie von einem deutschen Fotografen in Paris.
Der Name Vincent Peters (*1969) wird kaum jemandem etwas sagen. Die jüngere Generation der Modefotografen hat in der heutigen Zeit nicht den Nimbus erreicht, wie die Fotografen zurzeit der Supermodels wie Naomi Campbell oder Claudia Schiffer. Allerdings kamen auch die Fotografen der 90er Jahre erst spät ins Rampenlicht. Mit Ausnahme von Helmut Newton und Peter Lindbergh, die bereits früh zu Ikonen ihrer Zeit wurden. In der Regel sind Fotografen, die in Erinnerung bleiben, diejenigen, die provozieren. Wie Guy Bourdin in den 70er Jahren oder Jürgen Teller heute. Guy Bourdin ist zurzeit noch bis 13. Mai 2018 in der Helmut Newton Stiftung zu sehen, von Jürgen Teller gab es vor kurzem eine Ausstellung im Martin-Gropius-Bau in Berlin. Kultur24 berichtete.
Vincent Peters gehört sicher nicht zu der Sorte der Provokateure. Ganz im Gegenteil. Seine Fotografien sind von klassischer Schönheit. Bei ihm käme das Sprichwort von Billy Wilder zur Geltung, der einmal darauf antwortete, was für ihn der Film bedeutete: „Schöne Frauen schön fotografieren“.

Entsprechend finden sich bei Vincent Peters auch eine ganze Reihe von Hollywood Stars, wie Charlize Theron, Amanda Seyfried, Courtney Love, Gwyneth Paltrow, Penelope Cruz, Scarlett Johansson und Kim Basinger, die alle mit Schönheit glänzen können. Und bei den Models handelt es sich um keine geringeren als Cindy Crawford (deren Sohn Presley und Tochter Kaia mittlerweile selbst Models sind), Adriana Lima (viele Jahre Victoria Secret Angel) und viele andere. Soweit es die Zeit erlaubt fragt Vincent Peters die Models nach Ende eines professionellen Photoshoots, ob sie noch zusammen individuellere Aufnahmen machen könnten. Und dann entstehen die Fotos, die wir nun in der Galerie Camera Work bewundern dürfen. Dafür legt er dann auch seine Digitalkamera zur Seite und greift zu einer alten analogen Mamyia 6×6 Mittelformatkamera mit einem Schwarz/ Weiß Rollfilm. Mit diesen Arbeiten sind beim Verlag TeNeues ein Buch mit dem Titel „Personal“ entstanden. 40 Fotografien daraus sieht man jetzt hier in Berlin.

Classic portrait and nude photography by a German photographer in Paris.
The name Vincent Peters (* 1969) will hardly tell anyone. The younger generation of fashion photographers has not reached the fame as the photographers of the supermodels like Naomi Campbell or Claudia Schiffer in the 90ties. But even these photographers came also late into the limelight. With the exception of Helmut Newton and Peter Lindbergh, who became early icons of their time. Apart from these two, usually photographers become famous by provocations. Like Guy Bourdin in the 70s or Jürgen Teller today. Guy Bourdin is right now to see in Berlin at the Helmut Newton Foundation, Jürgen Teller had an interesting exhibition last year at the Martin-Gropius-Bau in Berlin. Kultur24 reported.

As far as time permits, he asks the models after the end of a professional photoshoot if they can take more individual pictures together. In that case, he puts his digital camera aside and takes an old analog Mamyia 6×6 medium format camera with a black and white roll film.
