Elbphilharmonie feiert Geburtstag

Elbphilharmonie

One year ago, the ELBPHILHARMONIE was handed over to the city of Hamburg by the construction company and on 4 November 2016 the plaza was ceremoniously opened. Since then, more than four million visitors have visited the new Konzerthaus and landmark Hamburg. This coming Saturday, the Elbphilharmonie will be celebrating its first birthday – with a gift to all those who have their birthday on November 4th. Anyone presenting their identity card and their date of birth may drive in with an escort through an extra entrance to the Plaza – without having to queue. All other well-wishers should get a Plaza ticket for 2 euros.

Art

Only until the 12th of November is the remarkable solo exhibition from 30 years of work by the artist Wolfgang Tillmans to be seen in the Kunstverein. It is about the staging of (exhibition) space and its relationship to the acoustic perception of the outside world. And of course, it’s about photographs from the years from 1973 to 2003. Above all, the artist’s time in Hamburg is in the foreground.
Wolfgang Tilmans, KUNSTVEREIN in Hamburg, until 12th November. Tue-Sun 12-18 o’clock.

For the first time, many of the works of the painter Anita Rée (1885-1933), privately owned, are exhibiting at the Hamburger Kunsthalle, making the 200-work retrospective a great exhibition.
Anita Rée Retrospective, HAMBURGER KUNSTHALLE, Tue-Sun 10 am-6 pm, Thurs until 9 pm.

The Hanseatic museum scene is richer by a small fine museum. The Bargheer Museum has opened in Jenisch Park. The extensive collection and estate of the Hamburg artist form the basis for future exhibitions. In a first overview are now oil paintings, watercolors and Gafiken of Bargheer (1901-1979) shown. The picture „Southern City“, which usually hangs in the Kunsthalle, can also be seen in the opening show.
BARGHEER MUSEUM at Jenischpark, Tue-Sun 11 am to 6 pm.

How fast the year passes, you also notice that the „Affordable Art Fair“ takes place again. 80 galleries from Germany and the world show contemporary art for prices between 1000 and 7500 euros. Since its founding in 1999 by the London gallery owner Will Ramsay, more than 1.9 million visitors have made a total turnover of 365 million euros in ten metropolises worldwide. Hats off.

What was conceived as a one-off event has become indispensable in Hamburg’s art scene. Christian and Margarita Holle, the nonprofit show „Salondergegenwart“, which takes place for the seventh time, is again expecting around 2,000 art lovers of contemporary painting.
