Fashion Party im Restaurant Borchardt

Mit einer glanzvollen Party im Nobel-Restaurant Borchardt ging am Mittwoch die Berlin Fashion Week zu Ende.
Will man ein Resumée dieser Ausgabe der Fashion Week 2021 in Berlin ziehen, so sollte man zunächst ein großes Lob an die zahlreichen Veranstalter und Organisatoren und einen großen Dank an Hunderte von Helfern aussprechen.
In dieser wahrhaftig nicht leichten Zeit, in der wegen der Corona-Pandemie alle Modegeschäfte über 6 Monate schließen mussten und sicher viele Pleite gingen (die genauen Zahlen werden wir wohl erst Anfang des nächsten Jahres erfahren), musste der Betrieb jetzt für alle wieder anlaufen, neue Stoffe eingekauft, neue Schnittmuster angefertigt und neue Kleider für die jetzige Fashion Week produziert werden.
Und das, obwohl der Umsatz trotz online Verkäufen bei den meisten signifikant geschrumpft ist.
Deshalb war es toll zu sehen, mit wieviel Leidenschaft alle dabei waren und mit wieviel Lust jeder der Branche neuen Auftrieb geben wollte.
Allen voran die gut gemachte Ausstellung BERLINER SALON im Kraftwerk Berlin-Mitte mit 35 Designern.
FASHION SHOWS
Die ein Dutzend live durchgeführten Fashion Shows gaben der Berlin Fashion Week wieder den Anschein einer echten Modeveranstaltung.
Es gab Shows sowohl im Kraftwerk vor beeindruckender Kulisse, als auch offside, wie z.B. William Fan in einer Galerie in der Potsdamer Strasse.
Klarer Trend: starke Farben, florale Motive, Prints, lange Kleider und lange Mäntel.

STUDIO2RETAIL Pop-Up
Bemerkenswert war auch die elegante Eröffnung des STUDIO2RETAIL Pop-Up Store im Alhambra-Gebäude am Kudamm, initiiert und organisiert vom FASHION COUNCIL GERMANY, um Designern die Möglichkeit zu geben, in realen Geschäften direkt ihre Mode interessierten Kunden anbieten zu können – mit Anfassen, Anfühlen und Anprobieren.
Der FCG hofft hier auf noch weitere Aktionen dieser Art. Wer also schöne Räume hat, die noch nicht fest vermietet wurden, der kann sich beim FCG melden.

FIRESIDECHAT IM BORCHARDT
Und zuletzt das Highlight: Die Fashion Party im Restaurant Borchardt.
Der FASHION COUNCIL GERMANY hatte zum Treffen der Modebranche eingeladen.
Offiziell FIRESIDECHAT genannt (wie eben ein gemütliches Treffen am offenen Kamin), wird seit einigen Jahren immer wieder während der Fashion Week zum Meeting gerufen, um bei Prosecco, leckeren Häppchen (wusste gar nicht, dass man selbst das berühmte Wiener Schnitzel im Borchardt als Häppchen essen kann) und lockeren Atmosphäre andere Gleichgesinnte der Modebranche wiedersehen oder auch neu kennenlernen kann.
Dieses Mal wollte der FASHION COUNCIL GERMANY etwas über den Tellerrand hinwegsehen und auch andere Disziplinen dazu bitten:
Die Kunst und den Film.
So sahen wir Karen Boros, die Ehefrau des Kunstsammlers Christian Boros (Boros-Bunker) oder auch die Schauspielerinnen Iris Berben und Bettina Zimmermann.
Mein Vorschlag: diese Idee noch weiter ausbauen!
Ich könnte mir da noch Ulrich Matthes, Schauspieler und Direktor der Deutschen Kinemathek vorstellen oder Barrie Kosky, Intendant der Komischen Oper oder auch den kommenden Direktor der Neuen Nationalgalerie, Klaus Biesenbach.
Klaus Biesenbach, bisher Chefkurator am Museum of Modern Art in New York und zuletzt Chefkurator am Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, wurde gerade von den Staatlichen Museen zu Berlin als neuer Direktor der Neuen Nationalgalerie und des zukünftigen Museum des 20. Jahrhunderts vorgestellt.
Berlin scheint langsam aus seinem Dornröschenschlaf zu erwachen!

Fashion party at Borchardt restaurant

The Berlin Fashion Week ended on Wednesday with a glamorous party in the noble restaurant Borchardt.
If you want to draw a resume of this edition of Fashion Week 2021 in Berlin, you should first express great praise to the numerous organizers and a big thank you to the hundreds of helpers.
In this really not easy time, in which all fashion stores had to close for more than 6 months due to the corona pandemic and many went bankrupt (we will probably only find out the exact numbers at the beginning of next year), the business now had to start again for everyone, with buying of new fabrics, made up new patterns and the production of new clothes for the current Fashion Week.
And that despite the fact that most of them have significantly reduced their sales despite online sales.
That’s why it was great to see how much passion and enthusiasm everyone wanted to give.
First and foremost the well-made exhibition BERLINER SALON at Kraftwerk Berlin-Mitte with 35 designers.
More than a dozen live fashion shows gave the BERLIN FASHION WEEK the appearance of a real fashion event, like before Corona.
There were shows both in the Kraftwerk Berlin-Mitte in front of an impressive backdrop, as well as offside, such as William Fan in a gallery on Potsdamer Strasse.
A clear trend: strong colors, floral motifs, prints, long dresses and long coats.

STUDIO2RETAIL pop-up
The elegant opening of the STUDIO2RETAIL pop-up store in the Alhambra building on Kudamm, initiated and organized by FASHION COUNCIL GERMANY, was also remarkable in order to give designers the opportunity to show their fashion to interested customers in real shops – by touching, feeling and trying on.
The FCG is hoping for further campaigns of this kind.

FIRESIDECHAT IN BORCHARDT
And finally the highlight: the fashion party in the Borchardt restaurant.
The FASHION COUNCIL GERMANY had invited to the meeting of the fashion industry.
Officially called FIRESIDECHAT (like a cozy meeting by an open fireplace), for several years now people have been invited to the meeting during Fashion Week to enjoy tasty appetizers and Prosecco (didn’t even know that you could get the famous Wiener Schnitzel as an little appetizer) and to be able to meet again other like-minded people in the fashion industry or get to know new ones in a relaxed atmosphere.
This time the FASHION COUNCIL GERMANY wanted to think open minded and ask other disciplines to join the meeting:
Art and the movie business.
So we saw Karen Boros, the wife of the art collector Christian Boros (Boros bunker) or the actresses Iris Berben and Bettina Zimmermann.
My suggestion: expand this idea even further!
I could also imagine Ulrich Matthes, actor and director of the Deutsche Kinemathek, or Barrie Kosky, director of the Komische Oper or the upcoming director of the Neue Nationalgalerie, Klaus Biesenbach.
Klaus Biesenbach, previously chief curator at the Museum of Modern Art in New York and most recently chief curator at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, has just been introduced by the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin as the new director of the Neue Nationalgalerie and the future Museum des 20. Jahrhunderts (build by Herzog & de Meron, opening previewed for 2025).
Berlin seems to be slowly waking up from its slumber!
