München im Februar – die Narren sind los und das FAUST FESTIVAL beginnt

Helau, Alaaf… Nun ja, die ganz große Hochburg des tollen Treibens  ist München sicher nicht, aber vom Faschingssamstag – bis Faschingsdienstag ( 10. bis 13. Februar)  zeigt sich auch die bayerische Metropole  von ihrer  närrischen Seite. Herrlich bunte Bälle gibt es – „Die Gaukler in Auerbachs Keller“ im KÜNSTLERHAUS AM LEHNBACHPLATZ  , der  „Tanz auf dem Vulkan“ im DEUTSCHEN  THEATER u.v.a.- und in der Innenstadt  wird es vor allem an drei Orten  laut und lustig:  am Stachus, am Richard-Strauß-Brunnen in der Neuhäuser Straße und am Marienplatz. Am Rosenmontag und Faschingsdienstag übernimmt Radio Charivari das Ruder und DJs sowie Moderatoren heizen die Partystimmung an.  Wer es gern traditionell mag, sollte unbedingt am Faschingsdienstag – dem eigentliche Höhepunkt des Münchner Faschings- den  Tanz der Marktfrauen auf dem Viktualienmarkt miterleben. Doch Achtung, hier heißt es: frühes Kommen sichert den Platz!

Bei aller karnevalesker Ausgelassenheit: das klassische Kulturangebot der Stadt  macht nicht Pause, sondern hat jede Menge Attraktives  zu bieten. Hier die Highlights :

DAS FAUST FESTIVAL

München steht 2018 fünf Monate lang im Zeichen von Goethes berühmtestem Drama. Vom 23. Februar bis 29. Juli 2018 präsentieren mehr als 200 Partner und Institutionen überall in der Stadt ihre Projekte zum Thema „Faust“.
Ausstellungen, Konzerte, Filmvorführungen, Vorträge, literarische Veranstaltungen, Theaterproduktionen, Tanzvorstellungen, Partys, Führungen, Foto-Wettbewerb und Web-Serie – in schwindelerregender Vielfalt entwickeln sich eigene Perspektiven, entstehen neue kreative Facetten und öffnen sich ungekannte Zugänge zu diesem einzigartigen Werk der deutschen Literatur.
„Faust“ ist aktuell, Faust ist der prototypische moderne Mensch – rastlos auf der Suche, jedoch nie am Ziel. Das Drama hinterfragt den Menschen noch immer in seiner Verführbarkeit, Moral und Gesellschaftsstruktur. Seine Fragen sind auch unsere großen Fragen heute.
Wo wollen wir hin in unserem Streben? Was ist unser Preis? Wie weit dürfen wir gehen? Was ist Glück? Die Reise beginnt …

Bayerische Staatsoper 

Das Staatsballett feiert  das  JOHN  CRANKO – FEST

2. Februar (sowie 4. Februar und 7. Februar)  : ONEGIN
3. Februar (sowie 12. und 17. Februar): ROMEO UND  JULIA
4. und 23. Februar : DER WIDERSPENSTIGEN ZÄHMUNG

Vor genau 50 Jahren präsentierte  der weltberühmte Choreograph John Cranko seine erste Premiere in München. Am 23. Februar 1968 wurden mit Begegnungen für drei Farben und Gesang der Nachtigall, beide zur Musik von Igor Strawinsky, erstmals Werke von John Cranko  am Münchner Nationaltheater aufgeführt. Anlass genug, den Meister des Handlungsballetts, der von1967 bis  1972 Chefchoreograph des Balletts der Bayerischen Staatsoper, dem Vorläufer des heutigen Bayerischen Staatsballetts war, mit einem Festmonat zu ehren. Das Bayerische Staatsballett widmet den gesamten Februar den drei großen Handlungsballetten des Meisters.

Gärtnerplatztheater

Premiere am Dienstag, 13. Februar, MY FAIR LADY, Musical nach Bernard Shaw  Musik von Frederick Loewe, Münchner Textfassung von Josef E. Köpplinger, ins Bayerische übertragen von Stefan Bischoff, Musikalische Leitung : Andreas Kowalewitz, Regie : Josef E. Köpplinger
Wer kennt sie nicht, die berühmten Schlager von »Es grünt so grün« über »Wäre das nicht wunderschön« bis »Hei, heute Morgen mach’ ich Hochzeit!«?! »My Fair Lady« ist wohl der Inbegriff des »klassischen« Musicals, mit Sicherheit aber eines der meistgespielten Stücke aller Zeiten.

Residenztheater

Samstag , 17. Februar, FAUST (Seit 2014 auf dem Spielplan), von Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Regie Martin  KUŠEJ, Bühne  Aleksandar DENIĆ. Es spielen u.a. Werner Wölbern (Faust), Bibiana Beglau (Mephisto), Andrea Wenzl (Margarete) – Mit Ausnahme-Schauspielerin Bibiana Beglau als Mephisto!

Dazu im Rahmen der Gesprächsreihe: „GOETHE  IM  GASTEIG “ in der BLACK BOX  des Gasteig am Dienstag, 27. Februar, SAHRA  WAGENKNECHT, »Auf freiem Grund mit freiem Volke stehn. Faust – eine Glücksutopie?«

Musik

Der Münchner Tenor  Jonas Kaufmann tritt im Rahmen seiner Europa-Tournee mit einem eher ausgefallenen Liedprogramm  in der Philharmonie auf, diesmal  zusammen mit seiner Kollegin Diana Damrau und dem Pianisten Helmut Deutsch.

Philharmonie im Gasteig 

Sonntag , 4. Februar, JONAS KAUFMANN   UND  DIANA DAMRAU, „ITALIENISCHES LIEDERBUCH“, von Hugo Wolf. Am Klavier HELMUT DEUTSCH. Dieser Abend wird in vieler Hinsicht etwas ganz Besonderes werden, soviel darf man sicher schon vorhersagen. Wolfs Lieder  sind teils zarte, teils emotional aufgeladene  Miniaturen, die das ganze Gefühlsspektrum eines Liebespaares aufzeigen. Um dieses musikalische Zwiegespräch mit echtem Leben zu erfüllen,  sind starke Künstlerpersönlichkeiten gefragt. Für dieses Konzert wird das Gipfeltreffen der beiden Sänger-Stars noch um einen dritten großen Namen erweitert, den man schon fast als eine Institution in der delikaten Kunst der Liedbegleitung bezeichnen darf: Helmut Deutsch. Ein Bericht über das Konzert folgt.

Prinzregentenheater 

Mittwoch, 21. Februar, DANIEL HOPE  (Violine und Leitung) mit dem Zürcher Kammerorchester, Werke von Gluck, Haydn und Mozart. Die erste Bekanntschaft mit dem Ensemble machte  der Geiger Daniel Hope über seinen langjährigen Lehrer und Mentor Yehudi Menuhin, den er liebevoll seinen „musikalischen Großvater“ nennt. Inzwischen ist Hope nicht mehr das junge Wunderkind, sondern Musikdirektor des Ensembles – übrigens als erster, der diese Position als Konzertmeister ausübt.

Evangelische Akademie in Grünwald

Dienstag, 27. Februar um 19.30 Uhr. Es geht auch um Musik, doch in ganz anderer Weise, wenn der  Grünwalder Freundeskreis der EVANGELISCHEN AKADEMIE  TUTZING sich der Welt von Johann Sebastian Bach nähert. Dafür wurde einer der herausragenden Kirchenmusiker unserer Zeit eingeladen. Evangelisches Gemeindezentrum Grünwald (bei München) Wörnbrunner Str. 1. Professor MARTIN  LUTZ : „Zur Ehre Gottes und der Menschen – Die Kantaten von Johann Sebastian Bach“.

Munich in February – the fools are ready and the FAUST FESTIVAL begins
Helau, Alaaf … Well, Munich is certainly not the very big stronghold of great excitement, but from the carnival Saturday – until Shrove Tuesday (10 to 13 February), the Bavarian metropolis shows its foolish side. There are wonderfully colorful balls – „The jugglers in Auerbachs Keller“ in the KÜNSTLERHAUS am LEHNBACHPLATZ, the „Dance on the Volcano“ in the uAva- and in the city center it gets loud and funny in three places: on the Stachus, on the Richard -Strauss fountain in Neuhäuser Straße and Marienplatz. On Carnival Monday and Shrove Tuesday Radio Charivari takes over the helm and DJs as well as moderators heat up the party mood. If you like it traditional, you should definitely attend the Carnival Tuesday – the real highlight of the Munich carnival – the dance of the market women on the Viktualienmarkt. But beware, here it says: early arrival secures the place!
For all the carnival exuberance: the classical cultural offer of the city does not break, but has a lot of attractive things to offer. Here are the highlights:
THE FAUST FESTIVAL
For five months in 2018, Munich will be dedicated to Goethe’s most famous drama. From February 23 to July 29, 2018, more than 200 partners and institutions throughout the city present their projects on the subject of „Faust“.
Exhibitions, concerts, film screenings, lectures, literary events, theater productions, dance performances, parties, guided tours, photo competitions and web series – in dizzying diversity develop their own perspectives, create new creative facets and open up unknown access to this unique work of German Literature.
„Faust“ is up to date, Faust is the prototypical modern man – restless in search, but never at the finish. The drama still questions man in his seductiveness, morality and social structure. His questions are also our big questions today.
Where do we want to go in our quest? What is our price? How far can we go? What is luck? The journey starts …

The State Ballet celebrates the JOHN CRANKO FESTIVAL

Exactly 50 years ago, the world-famous choreographer John Cranko presented his first premiere in Munich. On February 23, 1968, for the first time, works by John Cranko at the Munich National Theater were performed with encounters for three colors and singing of the Nightingale, both to the music of Igor Stravinsky. Reason enough to honor the master of the action ballet, who was Chief Choreographer of the Ballet of the Bavarian State Opera from 1967 to 1972, the predecessor of today’s Bavarian State Ballet, with a festive month. The Bavarian State Ballet dedicates the whole of February to the three major ballets of the Master.

Who does not know them, the famous hits from „It greens so green“ over „Would not that be beautiful“ to „Hey, this morning I’ll make a wedding!“ ?! „My Fair Lady“ is probably the epitome of the „classic“ musical, but certainly one of the most played pieces of all time.
In the coming months until the summer break Munich has an ambitious project
prescribed: „THE FAUST FESTIVAL“ It is everywhere and in different ways. The prelude to three juxtaposed, not belonging together, but nevertheless related Faust dates:

The Munich tenor Jonas Kaufmann performs as part of his European tour with a rather unusual song program in the Philharmonic, this time together with his colleague Diana Damrau and the pianist Helmut Deutsch.
– Philharmonic Hall in Gasteig:
Sunday, February 4, JONAS KAUFMANN AND DIANA DAMRAU, „ITALIAN SONG BOOK“, by Hugo Wolf. At the piano HELMUT DEUTSCH. This evening will be very special in many ways, so much may be predicted. Wolf’s songs are partly delicate, partly emotionally charged miniatures that show the whole range of emotions of a couple in love. In order to fulfill this musical dialogue with real life, strong artistic personalities are needed. For this concert, the summit meeting of the two singers stars will be extended by a third big name, which can almost be described as an institution in the delicate art of song accompaniment: Helmut Deutsch. A report about the concert follows.
– Prinzregententheater:
Wednesday, February 21, DANIEL HOPE (violin and conductor) with the Zurich Chamber Orchestra, works by Gluck, Haydn and Mozart. The first acquaintance of the ensemble was made by the violinist Daniel Hope about his longtime teacher and mentor Yehudi Menuhin, whom he affectionately calls his „musical grandfather“. In the meantime, Hope is no longer the young prodigy, but music director of the ensemble – incidentally, the first person to hold this position as concertmaster.
– Protestant Academy in Grünwald:
Tuesday, February 27 at 7:30 pm. It is also about music, but in a completely different way when the Grünwalder Circle of Friends of the Evangelical Academy Tutzing approaches the world of Johann Sebastian Bach. For this, one of the outstanding church musicians of our time was invited. Protestant Community Center Grünwald (near Munich) Wörnbrunner Str. 1. Professor MARTIN LUTZ: „To the Glory of God and the People – The Cantatas by Johann Sebastian Bach“.
