Editors
Editors sind eine britische Indie-Rock-Band mit deutlichen Anleihen im New-Wave- und Post-Punk-Spektrum.
Geschichte
Die Band wurde im Herbst 2003 in Birmingham gegründet. Mitglieder der Band sind Tom Smith, Chris Urbanowicz, Russell Leetch und Ed Lay. Kennengelernt haben sie sich an der Staffordshire Universität im Kurs Music Technology. Alle Bandmitglieder haben dort auch ihr Musikstudium abgeschlossen.
Im Januar 2005 erschien die Debütsingle Bullets, mit der sie auf Anhieb die britischen Singlecharts erreichten. Auf alternativen Radiostationen wurde die Single zu einem der meistgespielten Songs. Mit ihrer zweiten Single bestätigte die Band diesen Erfolg.
Das zweite Album An End Has a Start erschien am 22. Juni 2007, die erste Singleauskopplung war Smokers Outside the Hospital Doors. Am 9. Oktober 2009 folgte das dritte Album In This Light and on This Evening.
In einem BBC Interview gab die Band zu Protokoll, dass bereits erste Demos für ein weiteres Album existieren und die Arbeit nach dem Berlin Festival 2010 begonnen werden können.
Am 16. April 2012 gab die Band auf ihrer Homepage bekannt, dass Gitarrist und Keyboarder Chris Urbanowicz aus der Band aussteigt. „Die Entscheidung sei mit Blick auf die zukünftige, musikalische Ausrichtung und mit großer Schwermut getroffen worden!“ hieß es in der Stellungnahme. Die geplanten Festivals für 2012 wurden aber nicht abgesagt.
Zum 7. Mai 2013 begann der offizielle Vorverkauf für das vierte Album The Weight of Your Love, welches laut der offiziellen Bandhomepage zum 1. Juli 2013 als CD, Vinyl und MP3-Download mit elf neuen Tracks veröffentlicht werden soll. Zusätzlich ist als MP3-Download und auf CD eine Spezial-Edition mit zwei CDs angekündigt, auf der fünf Bonus-Tracks, drei weitere neue Tracks und zwei Akustik-Tracks enthalten sind.
Stil
Ihr Stil ist, ähnlich wie Bloc Party, The National, The Killers, Interpol oder The Bravery, stark beeinflusst von Bands wie Elbow, Doves, Joy Division, den frühen R.E.M. und Echo & The Bunnymen. Besonders auffällig ist die Bariton-Stimme ihres Sängers Tom Smith, die an Ian Curtis von Joy Division oder Sivert Høyem von Madrugada erinnert.

Hollywood Vampires is an American rock supergroup formed in 2015 by Alice Cooper, Johnny Depp and Joe Perry to honor the music of the rock stars who died from excess in the 1970s. The band name derives from The Hollywood Vampires, a celebrity drinking club formed by Cooper in the 1970s which included but was not limited to: John Lennon and Ringo Starr of The Beatles, Keith Moon of The Who, and Micky Dolenz of The Monkees. Touring members include or have included Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum of Guns ‚N Roses fame, as well as Robert DeLeo from Stone Temple Pilots.
The band has released one studio album, Hollywood Vampires (2015), featuring guest appearances by Paul McCartney, Dave Grohl, Joe Walsh, and Christopher Lee among others. Cooper and Perry have discussed plans for a future live album, stating that Depp’s schedule works differently than theirs. (Wikipedia)
