Ebenfalls interessant „MEKTOUB, MY LOVE: CANTO UNO“ von Skandalregisseur Abdellatif Kechiche.

„Ex Libris – The New York Public Library“ von Frederick Wiseman

„Una famiglia“ von Sebastiano Riso

Mostra d’arte cinematografica di Venezia 2017
Last night the 74th Venice Film Festival opened with the exciting science fiction film „DOWNSIZING“ by Alexander Payne („The Descendants“) with Matt Damon and Christoph Waltz in the main roles. This is about the issue of finite resources and the ever-growing population on Earth. Scientists are discovering the ability to shrink people to doll size, to consume fewer resources and space on Earth. Will that be the solution?
Matt Damon also plays in the contest film „SUBURBICON“ by his friend George Clooney. Also here: Oscar Prize winner Julianne Moore. The Coen brothers wrote the script. Hopefully, Clooney’s film will be better than his last „MONUMENTS MEN“, which premiered at the Berlinale in 2014.
The new film of Oscar nominee Darren Aronofsky („BLACK SWAN“) is eagerly awaited. With Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence and Javier Bardem in the main roles in „MOTHER“. In a remote country house in England live a poet (Javier Bardem) and his wife (Jennifer Lawrence). One day they are visited by a strange couple, played by Michelle Pfeiffer and Ed Harris, which they let in only just courtesy – a big mistake, as it turns out … A psychological thriller that will be similar gloomy as „Black Swan“.
The new film by Guillermo Del Toro („PANS LABYRINTH“) with „THE SHAPE OF WATER“ will also be exciting.
Also interesting is „MEKTOUB, MY LOVE: CANTO UNO“ by Skandal Regisseur Abdellatif Kechiche. His film about a lesbian love, „Blue is a warm color“ of 2013, had won the Golden Palm in Cannes. The sex scenes were so explicit, that extra artificial vaginas were made, so that one did not see the real.
Also to be noted is the first long documentary film „HUMAN FLOW“ by Ai Wei Wei about the flow of the refugees to Europe.
More and more productions now come from streaming services, especially Netflix. When they had a film in Cannes, there was a scandal a few months ago. In Venice, no one gets upset. Here is the super-production „OUR SOULS AT NIGHT“ with no less than the superstars Jane Fonda and Robert Redford. Both will also receive the honorary award of the Venice Film Festival for their live time work. Also this year there is no lack of big stars and glamorous celebrations on the Lido – long live the cinema!
