09.03.2019 Premiere/ Uraufführung von „BABYLON„, eine Oper von Jörg Widmann in sieben Bildern mit Texten von Peter Sloterdijk. Handlung: Der jüdische Tammu wird vom Priesterkönig als Menschenopfer getötet. Tammus Geliebte, die Priesterin Inanna, geht in die Unterwelt, um Tammu wieder zurück zu den Lebenden zu bringen. Die musikalische Leitung hat Christopher Ward, die Regie führt Andreas Kriegenburger.

24.03.2019, Premiere von „DER ZWERG“ von Alexander von Zemlinsky (1871 – 1842) nach einem Märchen von Oscar Wilde. Unter der musikalischen Leitung von Donald Runnicles und der Regie von Tobias Kratzer. Die Story: Eine Prinzessin bekommt zum 18 Geburstag einen Zwerg geschenkt, der sie mehr fasziniert, als sie erwartet hätte. Doch als dieser sich unsterblich in die Prinzessin verliebt, führt das zur Tragödie. Uraufführung 1922 in Köln. Die Prinzessin wird von Elena Tsallagova gesungen, der Zwerg von David Butt Philip.

16.03.2019. Premiere von „POROS“ von Händel (Uraufführung 1731) über den Eroberer Alexander, der nach Indien reist, um den Subkontinent für sich zu erobern. Dabei hat er aber nicht mit der List und Tücke des indischen Königs Poros und der Verführungskunst der schönen Königin Mahamayas gerechnet.

01.03.2019, Premiere von „LA SYLPHIDE“ in der Choreographie von August Bournonville (Uraufführung 1836) und in der Neueinstudierung von Frank Andersen. Die Story: In den schottischen Highlands: Schäfer James, der kurz vor der Heirat mit seiner Braut Effie steht, erscheint eines Tages eine geflügelte Waldfee, die sich in den Schäfer verliebt hat. Auch James ist von dem Fabelwesen entzückt, doch möchte er die Verlobung mit Effie nicht brechen. Als es zur Trauungszeremonie kommt, verschwinden plötzlich die Hochzeitsringe. Als er daraufhin der Waldfee folgt, wird ihre Liebe durch die böse Hexe Madge gestört, die beide zu Tode bringt, weil das Irdische und das Übersinnliche sich nicht vereinen können. „La Sylphide“ gilt als der Durchbruch des Spitzentanzes einer Ballerina, um zusammen mit dem TuTu das Schweben eines Fabelwesens darzustellen.

03.03.2019. Premiere/ Uraufführung von „DER TEMPELHERR“ von Ferdinand Schmalz in der Regie von Philipp Arnold. Mit Natali Seelig, Harald Baumgartner, Bernd Moss, Linn Reusse und Edgar Eckert. Handlung: Die schwangere Petra zieht mit ihrem Mann Heinar aufs Land, um sich dort eine neue Heimat zu erschaffen. Als Heinar nach langem Zögern endlich beginnt das Haus zu bauen, wird daraus ein überdimensionaler Tempel, welcher den Bauherrn letztlich verschlingen wird.
29.03.2019. Premiere von „DER MENSCHENFEIND“ von Molière in der Regie von Anne Lenk. Mit Ulrich Matthes, Franzika Machens, Jeremy Mockridge, Judith Hofmann, Manuel Harder, Lisa Hrdina und Timo Weisschnur.

09.03.2019. Premiere von „THIRD GENERATION – NEXT GENERATION„. Text und Regie von Yael Ronen. Handlung: Die dritte Generation der Deutschen nach dem 2. Weltkrieg erlebt immer mehr Zuwanderer aus dem Nahen Osten. Sowohl Menschen jüdischen, wie muslimischen Glaubens. Aber gibt es in der dritten Generation noch das Schuldbewußtsein der ersten und zweiten Generation gegenüber dem Rassenwahn der Nazis vor 70/80 Jahren? Und wie steht es mit der Ablehnung der Deutschen den Muslimen gegenüber? Diesem Gemengelage der Gefühle spürt die israelische Autorin Yael Ronen nach.

Premiere von „GRANMA“ vom Autoren Team Rimini Protokoll.Handlung: Drei Protagonisten der dritten Generation nach Fidel Castros Revolution auf Kuba versuchen herauszufinden, was von der glorreichen Zeit der großen Helden von damals noch übriggeblieben ist. Und wie das heutige Leben auf Kuba aussieht. Begleitet werden sie von der Musikerin Diana mit einer Posaune.
29.03.2019. Premiere von „SO NICHT ABER SCHON“ von und mit den Golden Gorkis (60+), welche die Frage aufwerfen, ob allein oder doch zusammen die bessere Formel für das Leben sein könnte.

07., 08., 09. März 2019. Die BERLINER PHILHARMONIKER spielen unter ihrem neuen Chefdirigenten Kirill Petrenko zusammen mit der Geigerin Patricia Kopatchinskaja Werke von Arnold Schönberg (Konzert für Violine und Orchester op. 36) und Peter Tschaikowsky (Symphonie Nr. 5). Am 9. März gibt es auch noch ein „Late Night“ Konzert, ebenfalls mit Patricia Kopatchinskaja und 6weiteren Musikern mit Werken von Strauss und Schönberg.

09.03.2019. In dem Kammermusiksaal gibt es zeitgleich zum oben genannten Konzert einen Abend mit dem Chamber Orchester of Europe unter der Leitung von Dirigent und Pianist Pierre-Laurent Aimard mit Werken von Elliott Carter und Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
14.03.2019. Die Berliner Philharmoniker unter Sir Simon Rattle spielen die Johannes Passion von Johann Sebastian Bach. Mit den Sängerinnen und Sängern Magdalena Kozena, Camilla Tilling, Mark Padmore, Christian Gerhaher, Roderick Williams, Andrew Staples, Peter Sellars und dem Rundfunkchor Berlin.

26., 27., 29. und 30. März 2019. Pianist Sir ANDRÀS SCHIFF spielt das „Wohltemperierte Klavier“ von Johann Sebastian Bach. Dabei gibt es jeweils eine Einführung zum Werk des Barockmeisters (auf englisch).

März 2019. „ABSOLUT STRAWINSKY“ Das Konzerthaus feiert im März an fünf Tagen den genialen russischen Komponisten Igor Strawinsky, dessen berühmteste Werke sicher die Musik zu den Ballettwerken „Der Feuervogel“ /1910), „Petruschka“ (1911) und „Le Sacre du Printemps“ (1913) sind. Ivan Fischer dirigiert dazu nacheinander das Royal Concergebouw Orchester aus Amsterdam, das Budapest Festival Orchester, sowie das Konzerthausorchesteraus Berlin.

11.03.2019. „SHAWN MENDES – The Tour“. Der kanadische Popsänger Shawn Mendes (*1998) singt und spielt im März bei uns in der Mercedes-Benz Arena. Der Youngster machte ähnlich wie sein Landsmann Justin Bieber (*1994) mit kleinen Videoclips im Internet auf sich aufmerksam. Besonders, als er 2012 eine Coverversion von „Hometown Glory“ von Adele vortrug. Schon im Alter von 15 Jahren wurde er von Island Records unter Vertrag genommen.Seine erste Veröffentlichung im Sommer 2014 mit dem Song „Life of the Party“ wurde der am häufigsten geteilte Song der Woche bei Twitter und schaffte es auch in die offiziellen Charts von Kanada und den USA. In den Billboard Hot 100 erreichte er Platz 24 und war damit der jüngste Interpret, der mit seiner Debütsingle eine so hohe Platzierung erreichte.

100 JAHRE BAUHAUS
Das ganze Jahr wird an verschiedenen Orten der vielleicht berühmtesten Stilrichtung der Moderne gedacht: dem BAUHAUS.
Es wurde 1919 in Weimar gegründet und kurze Zeit später in Dessau fortgesetzt, bis es in Berlin 1933 sein abruptes Ende fand.
Doch sein Design – und Architekturstil verbreitete sich nach dem 2. Weltkrieg über die ganze Welt.
25.01. – 05.05.2019 „VON ARTS AND CRAFTS ZUM BAUHAUS“ im Bröhan Museum (nahe dem Charlottenburger Schloss). Die Ausstellung zeigt die Entwicklung zum Bauhaus, ausgehend von der Design Bewegung „Arts and Craft“ in England, über den Wiener Jugendstil und dem Deutschen Werkbund bis zur Gründung des Bauhauses in Weimar 1919. Interessant auch die Verbindung zur holländischen Gruppe De Stijl, zu der u.a. Piet Mondrian und Gerrit Rietveld gehörten, von deren Formensprache einiges beim Bauhaus übernommen wurde.

09.03. – 16.06.2019. „PICASSO – DAS SPÄTE WERK“: Das 2017 wiedereröffnete Haus im Zentrum von Potsdam zeigt ab März eine Reihe von Werken Picassos, die er in seinen 20 letzten Lebensjahren gemalt hast. Die Arbeiten stammen überwiegend aus der Sammlung von Jacqueline Picasso, der letzten Ehefrau, die er so oft wie keine ihrer Vorgängerinnen auf Leinwand verewigte. Ihre Tochter, Catherine Hutin stellte die Arbeiten für das Museum Barberini zur Verfügung.

Action: The third generation of Germans after World War II is seeing more and more immigrants from the Middle East. Both people of Jewish, as well as Muslim faith. But is there still the sense of guilt of the first and second generation in the third generation compared to the Nazi racial frenzy 70/80 years ago? And what about the rejection of Germans against Muslims? This mumbling of feelings traces the Israeli author Yael Ronen.

The BERLIN PHILHARMONICS play under their new Chief Conductor Kirill Petrenko together with the violinist Patricia Kopatchinskaja works by Arnold Schönberg (Concerto for Violin and Orchestra op. 36) and Peter Tchaikovsky (Symphony No. 5) , On the 9th of March there will also be a „Late Night“ concert, also with Patricia Kopatchinskaja and six other musicians with works by Strauss and Schoenberg.

03/11/2019. SHAWN MENDES – „The Tour“. Canadian pop singer Shawn Mendes (* 1998) sings and plays with us at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in March. Similar to his compatriot Justin Bieber (* 1994), the youngster attracted attention with small video clips on the internet. Especially when he recited 2012 a cover version of „Hometown Glory“ by Adele. His first release in the summer of 2014 with the song „Life of the Party“ became the most frequently shared song of the week on Twitter and also made it into the official charts of Canada and the USA. In the Billboard Hot 100, he reached No. 24, making it the youngest interpreter, who reached such a high ranking with his debut single.

100 YEARS OF BAUHAUS
Throughout the year, the most famous style of modernity is thought of in different places: the BAUHAUS. It was founded in 1919 in Weimar and continued a short time later in Dessau until it came to an abrupt end in Berlin in 1933. But his style of design and architecture spread throughout the world after World War II.

3.9. – 16.06.2019. „PICASSO – THE LATE WORKS“: The house reopened in 2017 in the center of Potsdam shows from March a number of works by Picasso, which he painted in his last 20 years.
