Die Berlin Fashion Week kommt mit neuer Location
Auch wenn die Berliner Modewoche in den letzten Jahren immer kleiner wurde, so versprüht sie doch nach wie vor einen gewissen Reiz.
Dieser Reiz kommt auch durch die interessanten Orte, an denen die einzelnen Events stattfinden.
Nachdem wir zweimal nacheinander das kolossale Kraftwerk Berlin-Mitte als Haupt-Veranstaltungsort bewundern konnten, kommt nun etwas völlig Neues:
Ein noch im (Um)-bau befindliches Luxus-Hotel, welches schon vor der Eröffnung in diesem Herbst seine Schatten vorauswirft:
Das Hotel Telegrafenamt am Montbijoupark (Photos siehe unten).
Der Name mag nicht so schillernd klingen wie Ritz-Carlton, Adlon oder Walldorf Astoria, dafür aber mit einer einzigartigen Historie: 1916 vom Architekten Max Lehmann im Stil des Neobarock an der Oranienburger Straße in Berlin-Mitte erbaut, war es vor dem 2. Weltkrieg das größte Amt für Fernsprechtechnik in ganz Europa.
Es diente auch der ersten Einrichtung eines kabellosen Funkverkehrs in Deutschland. Und es beinhaltete die größte Rohrpostanlage der Stadt.
Im Krieg nur wenig beschädigt, wurde es in der ehemaligen DDR auch weiterhin für Telefondienste genutzt. Die Rohrpostanlage wurde dann 1977 stillgelegt. Nach Ende der DDR 1990 wurde die Deutsche Telekom Eigentümer des Hauses und ließ die gesamte Technik stilllegen.
Im Jahre 2001 wurde das Telegrafenamt zusammen mit weiteren umliegenden Gebäuden an den bayrischen Investor Ernst Freiberger verkauft, der das gesamte Areal bis vor zur Spree neu erschließen wollte. Mittlerweile sind die meisten der neun denkmalgeschützten Häuser des FORUMS MUSEUMSINSEL fertiggestellt.
In einem sitzt der Lieferdienst Delivery Hero, in einem anderen die Deutschlandzentrale von GOOGLE, in einem weiteren die Werbeagentur Serviceplan. Und das Telegrafenamt wird zum Hotel.
Betreiber soll Roland Mary werden, der Besitzer des Restaurant Borchardt.

Die wichtigsten Veranstaltungsorte:
HOTEL TELEGRAFENAMT
Hier wird am Montag, den 5. September um 18.00 Uhr, die große Eröffnungsfeier („MBFW Creators Night“) der Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin über die Bühne gehen.
Anschließend finden dort am Dienstag und Mittwoch sechs Fashion Shows mit folgenden Designern statt:
BOBKOVA (Di, 11.00 Uhr) eine ukrainische Modedesignerin, KILIAN KERNER (Di, 15.00 Uhr), LAURA GERTE (Di, 20.30 Uhr), FRIEDA WEYER (Mi, 11.0 Uhr), REBEKKA RUETZ (Mi, 15.00 Uhr) und LML STUDIO (Mi, 19.00 Uhr).

KULTURFORUM
Auch der BERLINER SALON kommt zu einem neuen Ort: Das Kulturforum am Potsdamer Platz.
Dreißig vom Fashion Council Germany und der Stadt Berlin geförderte junge Designer und 24 ehemalig Geförderte werden mit den Räumlichkeiten eines Berliner Museums geehrt.
Am 6. und 7. Sept., jeweils von 10 – 18 Uhr.
FASHION TALK mit der ehemaligen Chefredakteurin der VOGUE, Christiane Arp und der Kunsthistorikerin und Leiterin der Sammlung Modebild der Berliner Kunstbibliothek, Dr. Britta Bommert, am 6. September um 16.00 Uhr.

PLATTE BERLIN
Wie schon bei der letzten Fashion Week zieht das STUDIO2RETAIL Fashion Event in den Plattenbau am Alexanderplatz, Memhardstr. 8 mit einer großen Party am Mittwoch, den 7. Sept. um 19.30 Uhr.

REINBECKHALLEN
Das ehemalige Transformatorenwerk in Berlin-Oberschöneweide (ca. 40 Minuten von Berlin-Mitte) ist ein weiterer ungewöhnlicher Veranstaltungsort. Hier findet die NEO.FASHION statt, bei der die Kollektionen von 30 Modeschülern aus ganz Deutschland gezeigt werden mit anschließender Preisverleihung.
Vom 6. – 8. Sept. jeweils von 13 – 21 Uhr.
RESTAURANT BORCHARDT
Am Montag ab 21.00 Uhr kommt es im berühmten Restaurant Borchardt zum traditionellen Treff der Modebranche unter dem Namen FIRESIDECHAT.
Wie immer lädt der Fashion Council Germany viele wichtige Persönlichkeiten aus Mode, Musik, Film und Kunst zu einem kommunikativen Zusammensein ein.

The Berlin Fashion Week comes with a new location
Even if the Berlin Fashion Week has become smaller and smaller in recent years, it still exudes a certain charm.
This appeal also comes from the interesting locations where the individual events take place.
After we were able to admire the colossal Power Plant Berlin-Mitte as the main event location twice in a row, something completely new is coming:
A luxury hotel that is still being renovated, which is already sending its rayons before it opens this autumn:
The Hotel Telegrafenamt at Montbijoupark.
The name may not sound as dazzling as Ritz-Carlton, Adlon or Walldorf Astoria, but it does have a unique history:
Built in 1916 by the architect Max Lehmann in the neo-baroque style on Oranienburger Straße in Berlin-Mitte, the Telegrafenamt was before World War 2 the largest office for telephone technology in all of Europe.
It also served to set up wireless radio communications for the first time in Germany.
And it contained the largest pneumatic tube system in the city.
Only slightly damaged during the war, the Telegrafenamt was still used for telephone services in the former GDR.
The pneumatic tube system was then shut down in 1977.
After the end of the GDR in 1990, Deutsche Telekom became the owner of the house and had all the technology in the house shut down.
In 2001, the telegraph office and other surrounding buildings were sold to the Bavarian investor Ernst Freiberger, who wanted to redevelop the entire area up to the Spree. Most of the nine listed buildings of the FORUM MUSEUMINSEL have now been completed.
The delivery service Delivery Hero is located in one, the German headquarters of GOOGLE in another, and the advertising agency Serviceplan in one of them.
And the telegraph office becomes a hotel: Hotel Telegrafenamt (pictures in the photo series).
The operator of the hotel will be Roland Mary, the owner of the Borchardt restaurant.

This is where the grand opening ceremony (“MBFW Creators Night”) of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin will take place on Monday, September 5th at 6 p.m.
Then there will be six fashion shows on Tuesday and Wednesday with the following designers:

KULTURFORUM
The BERLINER SALON is also moving to a new location: The Kulturforum on Potsdamer Platz.
Thirty young designers sponsored by the Fashion Council Germany and the city of Berlin and 24 former sponsored designers will be honored with the premises of a Berlin museum. On September 6th and 7th, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
And a FASHION TALK with the former editor-in-chief of VOGUE, Christiane Arp, and the head of the art historian and head of the fashion image collection at the Berlin Art Library, Dr. Britta Bommert, on September 6th at 4 p.m.

PLATTE BERLIN
As with the last Fashion Week, the STUDIO2RETAIL Fashion Event is moving to the prefab building at Alexanderplatz, Memhardstr. 8 with a big party on Wednesday 7th Sept at 7.30pm.

REINBECKHALLEN
The former transformer factory in Berlin-Oberschoeneweide (approx. 40 minutes from Berlin-Mitte) is another unusual venue.
NEO.FASHION takes place here, where the collections of 30 fashion students from all over Germany are shown, followed by an award ceremony.
From 6 to 8 September from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.
BORCHARDT RESTAURANT
On Monday from 9.00 p.m. the traditional meeting place of the fashion industry called FIRESIDECHAT will take place in the famous Borchardt restaurant.
As always, the Fashion Council Germany invites many important personalities from fashion, music, film and art to a communicative get-together.
